Oh great. I realized I made a critical mistake in this piece. Apparently I got Danny's outfit completely off. Where here I thought he was wearing his normal clothes when he was killed- he was in a combat suit. *slaps forehead*Anyway... aside from my glaring mistake, this is evidently my interpetation of a scene in the excellent fanfic...

"You were always so helpless, counting on him to save you. I heard plenty about it in the Ghost Zone, you know. Everyone was always going after you to get to Danny, and you couldn't do a thing except wait for him to show up. And you!" Spectra rounded on Sam before she could draw too close, keeping a hand on Jazz's trembling form. "It's your fault that he's dead."
"My fault?" Sam repeated incredulously. Hadn't Spectra already figured out that Sam wasn't going to fall for her tricks? "How do you figure that?"
"Of course," the ghost said smoothly. "Aren't you the one who brought him out of hiding? Aren't you the one who exposed his secret to the whole town? And who do you think he was coming to save when he came here to Whipstaff?"
Sam opened her mouth, but nothing came out of it. She didn't want to fall prey to Spectra's guilt trips...but now the monster was telling the truth. She was laying all of Sam's faults right out where everyone, including Sam herself, could not deny them.
"That's enough," said a familiar male voice, the speaker hidden until all eyes were pointed in his direction, less than a metre from where Jazz knelt in the grass. Danny Phantom materialized between Sam and Spectra with blinding speed, knocking the ghost's hand away from Jazz, who was gasping for breath.
Spectra heaved a sigh. "I guess I should have expected that to happen."

Just so you know, reading your review and looking up the other Estrelas fanart you mentioned in it caused me to reread Estrelas for old times' sake (no small feat as you know; over 100,000 words...) and from there went and rewatched almost the entire DP series...I have the boxsets on order, haha. I must admit, I missed Danny rather greatly, so thanks for the reminder.

No worries, I understood what you meant. XD Though I found the ending disappointing in some respects (kinda wished we had HEARD what Jazz had told Danny's parents at the end, and also really wanted to see Valerie and Lancer's reactions) there were some excellent eps in the third season. I'm a fan of the ice powers.

I wanted Valerie and Dani's parts to come to fuller fruition. And also Vlad to be a better bad guy than one that kinda skulked off in teh end. It was a good ending that could have been better.
I actually though that when Danny got his ghost powers back he was full ghost. Silly me- it being a kid's show and all. Of course they wouldn't do something awesome like that.

they didn't even really explain why he wasn't full ghost. it was... rather convenient.

Well, I don't think he actually got killed there, I think the ghost DNA had just gotten forced back to dormancy...the white streak in his hair proved that there was still something there, right?
I think the beating just kind of ...activated...his ghost powers. Similar to Estrelas actually. I always thought the DP writers were inspired by fanfics or something, some of the plot ideas were in the fandom long before appearing in the show!
Vlad...man, I was pissed off at him by the end, and I couldn't wait to see him get his just desserts, so you're right about that for sure. He shouldn't have just gone off like that. I DID like that Jack finally saw his true colours, and Valerie too in the previous ep. Dani's story did seem kind of rushed, too, like they wanted to squeeze her in one more time and had just a single ep to do it in, so they put Val and Danni's big moments together....and then ran out of time to reveal Danny's identity to Val. The bookcase-falling-on-him setup would have been PERFECT, he even said out loud that he thought Val might have seen him change!

The good point is that IF Danny Phantom happened to get the go-ahead for new episodes (after all, there was a lot of protesting and petitioning going on, and Fairly Oddparents did eventually get reinstated) they could very very easily create an episode where Danny and Valerie's battle finally comes to a head and she finds out. It would be simple to present it as a flashback and would completely explain Val's NON-REACTION when she sees him transform in Phantom Planet.
Dani as well could use another ep; she flew off at the end of D-Stabilized, yet appeared in PP as one of the ghosts turning the earth intangible...guess she didn't get very far, but why?
I think Vlad and Valerie could have used more confrontation; at the end of D-Stabilized she declared that she'd be hunting him from now on!
It all kind of makes me think that the writers chose to go this way, -just in case- the series got extended. Maybe they were even EXPECTING an extension that never came true. Hard to say. Me, my biggest desire the WHOLE time was not for Danny and Sam to get together or Danny beat Plasmius, no; all I wanted throughout the whole series was for Lancer to find out that Danny was a ghost...lol.

i wanted valerie to find out myself. mostly because i wanted to see how she'd rationalize it. i mean i love sam and tucker- but valerie was such an interesting character. i was really disappointed that they did nothing more with her.
i actually liked mr. lancer myself. i can't say i wanted him to find out exclusively but i did want him to continue to have those understanding teacher- student episodes.
i think i read a fanfic to that effect once- where mr. lancer figures it out. Phantom Sketchbook? I think you recommended that in your story. I really enjoyed it. wish it really happened in the series.

Yesh, I did recommend Sketchbook, it was written by my real-life best friend. XD (We've known each other since first grade!) I think we both share an odd desire for Lancer to figure Danny out. XDD
The teacher-student moments were fantastic; I was disappointed to see them drop off in the later part of the series in favour of more Vlad coverage. T_T
Valerie, yes, Valerie was VERY interesting - stubborn - irrational at times - and sometimes she did irritating things, but I think her hatred of Phantom is pretty well justified. I would have LOVED to see her reaction to Danny!
In fact I couldn't believe they didn't cover her reaction in The Ultimate Enemy OR Reality Trip! They were going to ret-con those anyway (we got to see the Fentons' reactions -four times-, lol) so why not experiement with Valerie!? Especially since TUE Valerie probably would have found out AFTER Phantom started trashing the town...

i think i reviewed. but i might have to go back and double check. sometimes i read between classes and don't have time to write down reviews.
yeah- valerie's reaction is even more crucial i think than the parents. danny already knew from the Reality Trip that they would accept him irregardless of his ghost powers. but you never knew how valerie would take it.
you'd figure she wouldn't take it very well.
