Kind of. The "confirmation" ended up being a hoax, but there's leaked images of konami's Fox Engine running a Metal Gear Solid game where the player character is Big Boss post-Peace Walker. [link]
Konami swears that this isn't anything but a mere techdemo, but if that's the case why go though the trouble of making Big Boss appear how he would in the early 80's rather than just re-use an older design?
It's very fishy.

Very freaking sweet, but one thing though. Meryl's hair is nowhere near as horizontally spread as it should be. Even in MGS4, it was almost out to her shoulder width. :I

If you look at the widest parts, it's actually wide enough, it just doesn't "fan out" underneath, I kinda just made it fall more naturally.
Not that that is any more "correct" it's just how I ended up doing it.
I also made Snake way too buff for MGS1 Snake

With a closer look, I have to agree. *bow* It does fan out as you say. Kind of hugs her head, and then goes all crazy out. Very nice making it look more natural.
Yeah, but his model in MGS1 looked like it has as many muscles as you gave him.
Never knew the torso had that many muscles in it.

Again, it's not exactly "right", but it just.. I dunno looked nice when I was drawing it.
Snake's MGS1 model was a bit on the lean side, built more like Bruce Lee than the BEEF SNAKE we know today. He was ridiculously cut, but not very thick.
I really love MGS1 Snake's design. I actually remember hating MGS2 Snake's look at first because of how different it was. He went from a short-haired clean-shaven thin guy to a Beefy Beardy Mullet Man.
Of course it quickly grew on me, it was just.. shocking to see at first.

And MGS1 Snake had the cool hypothermia-preventing vest of coolness... and then he went to the tighter than a butt crack and corset sneaking suit in MGS2.

That was the shot actually, not the vest. The same shot suppressed his stomach acids, allowing him to sneak in a carton of cigarettes. Lord knows how he got them out of his stomach....
Interesting note, Yoji Shinkawa, the lead concept artist actually said that Snake and Raiden's MGS2 outfits were based off of bondage gear. He also admitted to making the cockpits in Zone of the Enders located near the robot's crotch merely as a crude pun.
There's a sketch in one of the art books actually that pokes fun at the inspiration for Snake's corset in particular.

Gosh darn it, guess I'll have to play through it all, AGAIN, AND HAVE FUN WHILE DOING SO, gosh.
... wow... okay. Never quite knew that, and sadly never had the chance to play Z.O.E..
I need to get one of those. Loved the sketchiness look to Shinkawa's drawings. Also, what's your opinion on Ashley Wood's style?

Love Ashley Wood. His work fits really well with Metal Gear. I actually think I prefer the Peace Walker style cutscenes over the traditional ones.

Hmm, same here. Can't quite pick a fav though from Portable Ops and Peace Walker. I loved the total scruffiness in PO, but PW's scruffy outer parts with the more detailed faces and other parts worked exceptionally well.

Any time the faces were really detailed that was Shinkawa mimicking Wood's style.
There were three main artists for Peace Walker. Shinkawa, Wood, and... whoever did the flashback to the last fight of MGS3, the really clean style, can't remember their name.
A lot of Wood's and Shinkawa's were mixed and used together, so you may have someone in the scene drawn by Shinkawa, but everyone else by Wood.
I do like though how Shinkawa seems to have taken Wood's "scruffy beard" big boss from PO and made it canon.

I really do wish they would have went with this [link] prototype model of her for MGS4 instead of the final [link]
And i will be forever butthurt over how, yeah she was just a no-show in 2. Maybe one day they'll make a game inbetween 1 and 2 that shows Otacon and Snake doing the cavorting around destroying Metal Gears they mentioned so casually in 2, and show exactly why Meryl and Snake didn't become super awesome Metal Gear destroying bros.
