He was awesome before they decided to make his sacrifice utterly meaningless by bringing him back.

Tassadar is technically a spirit/ghost; he's still deceased.
Even so, we have to wait until Heart of the Swarm (Zerg campaign) or Legacy of the Void (Protoss Campaign) to see what Tassadar will do next.

BW Tassadar: "So long as you continue to be so predictable, O Queen, I need not face you at all. You are your own worst enemy. "
SC2 Tassadar: Ha ha im not really dead and i will never be dead ha ha ha
Everything that was cool about him in SC1 was flushed down the toilet. He doesn't look like the original (he's a recycled archon), and they couldn't even get the same voice actor for him who was next door doing the voice of Deckard Cain for D3. The only similarity is that they're both named "Tassadar".

. . . Just wait for the campaigns to come out; maybe then this issue will be resolved. Anywho, Tassadar ws chosen by Blizziard to be the messanger to Zeratul about the Overmind's actions--and the Dark Voice's machinations against all species.

Out of curiosity, how are the new campaigns going to resolve the fact that he's a tool in Wings of Liberty?

Don't know; that's why we'll have to wait.

A predictable guess, but I strongly believe he was just used as a "fan-service extra". Blizzard is ready to dug up any old character for the purpose of winning back fans's money.
I tried to think like you but they did the same shit with Stuckov, which death was not showed in a glorious cinematic but still very dramatic.

Stukov made a big comeback in HOTS.

My point, that "magical comeback" just degraded his heroic death.

Let's see what "Legacy of the Void" has in store. Give it about three years.
