Description
The first surge, seen from the beaches of castellmare de Stabia,
with composition based on John Martin’s monumental painting*
(But with pyroclastic clouds instead of lava, and sans the Pompeii part. That city would technically be on the right like in the painting,
but it couldn’t be seen because it’s too dark)

*saw it when it was exhibited in Paris in early 2020 btw. It’s as spectacular as you’d expect.
…also said painting is now 201 years old.
