[Day 30 of the 365 Photo Challenge]I was originally going to take a picture of a cell phone charm I'd just gotten (a donut made to resemble Chip from Chip 'n Dale) but when I was looking at my passion flowers I noticed this tiny spiral and fell in love with it. This is the third time one of my passion flower plants has been used for my daily picture in just over a month.
And only one of those pictures is of an actual passion flower. Ha!I actually ran inside to get one of my tripods for this picture. The vine had wrapped itself around a stick I'd been using to show where Ryan shouldn't be mowing. Those vines will wrap around anything that stands still long enough.

Great eye and great shot. I can't imagine many would have seen the potential in what would seem to be such a mundane thing. Given the right perspective, however, the things we see as ordinary become unbelievable beautiful.

I'm a little obsessive about my plants and I absolutely love the little spirals their vines make. If it was anything else in my yard I probably would have missed it.

yet they just LOVE to strangle anything that is within a 50 foot radius of it
We had a huge passiflora vine that took over the fence and then proceeded to strangle the telephone poll.
I was laughing at the workers attempts to pull the thing off, it really gave a fight.

Was it a regular wooden fence? Because that's what we have and I'm wondering if it's going to climb the fence if I don't put lattice up for it to climb. My original idea was for it to climb my fence, then I realized I wasn't sure if it'd actually do that. Now it's climbing... whatever it gets close to more or less.

Only if the vines occasionally produce really awesome flowers. Though I guess they don't have to produce flowers... but I'd like to think mine will eventually. They're still wee little vines at the moment.
Yesssss I love how creepy Junji Ito's art is! If the story was just told without the illustrations it might be kind of stupid really... but with the art it was just freaking awesome.

Yeah, my vines are evil...They grow all over and reach out and wrap tightly around other plants and whatever else is around. They don't make flowers, they just strangle them D:
and now they're growing out of the middle of the yard!
Totally...The movie isn't too bad either. It's not the same (like it ever is) but not awful. I have a collection of his stuff just cause it's so creepy. I also really like Tomie even though its so out there.

Oh man I looooooove Tomie. I wish the movies were better. I actually like Uzumaki, but I saw it before reading the manga so I didn't have any idea what to expect. I saw Tomie after the manga and yeah... I also only watched three of the Tomie movies before just giving up.
Uzumaki is the reason I want to get a spiral tattoo somewhere, I just don't know where. I used to joke about getting it in my cleavage since your eyes are drawn to the center of the spiral. Buuuuuut no.
And yeah I don't think passion flower vines are that aggressive. They wrap, but it's not too hard to unwrap them. I've had to unwrap mine several times when they decided to cling to various sticks, weeds, pieces of pine straw, etc.

My vampire's coven tattoo was inspired by Uzumaki...it ends in a spiral. It's way to big for me to get myself though XD I'm not dedicated enough to cover my whole arm for the cause.

Uzumaki is a horror manga by Junji Ito, and if horror manga is your thing OMG YOU NEED TO READ IT! But if you're going to watch the movie, watch it first otherwise you'll hate it.
But uzumaki literally means spiral, and all the weird shit that happens in the manga has to do with spirals. It's fantastic and creepy and... really creepy and weird.
