You'll notice that there is not only fire, but remains of the darkness emanating from Whirlwind's home. Unfortunately, Whirlwind's parents were found and they have been destroyed by the darkness and a few others that were probably working for the one that created this darkness. I feel sorry for Whirlwind.
Still, it's nice of Bash to say that she can consider him and the others as family. It's as nice as his grin in the last panel.

im so glad that Whirlwind was able to get some much needed comfort from Bash, although I wonder what happened that caused the hut to burst into flames anyway? Was it arson?

The darkness was created by Kaos, so one of his cronies followed the darkness. Kaos has many creatures working for him including dragons. How they found Whirwind's home is a mystery, for now.

so sad!!! but I am sure than Flashwing feel like that to, because:
SHE DON'T NOW WHO ARE HER REAL PARENTS, MAY BE SHE DON'T HAVE, SHE IS HERE IN THE WORLD LOST WONDERING WHY SHE HAVE A SIMILAR MARK LIKE CYNDER (May be she is her mom) AND WHIRWIND IS HER BEST FRIEND, MOM, BOSS AND TEACHER ALL IN ONE PERSON!!! HOW ORRIBLE THAT WILL BE???!!!
