I have a different take, but that is the sheer beauty of the movie. I write laby an fic, romantic of course.
That said, I love your interpretation, though did u make Jareth more concrete and colorful on purpose?
I just love this so much! Wonderful, beautiful job!

I love the symbolism of the movie the Labyrinth. The movie Labyrinth really borrows quite a bit from the story "Alice in Wonderland" and many of the symbols are the same (Alice too has to pass through a Labyrinth). It is said that before one of the great ancient temples was built a huge Labyrinth (Herodotus' Egyptian labyrinth, which has long since disappeared but was believed to be in what was then a part of ancient Egypt). Before entering the Labyrinth was the words "Know thyself". Part of the premise of the story "Labyrinth" is the question of does one really know oneself and what is reality... or is reality really nothing more than a dream. So too in Alice in Wonderland, Alice faces this same question when she encounters the sleeping king. She is told that she is a part of the king's dream... or does the king exist only in her dreams? There is another story of a Cretan Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction built for King Minos of Crete and designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus who were ordered to build it to hold the Minotaur. In this tale, the hero Theseus must transverse the maze to kill the Minotaur by chopping off its head ("Off with her head!" "Fiery 1: Hey! Hey! Her head don't come off! Sarah: Of course it doesn't! Fiery 2: Hey, lady! Where are you going with a head like that?", The be-headed god or goddess form is a common but little understood ancient religious symbol) . It is important to understand in this story that the Bull was representative of the Sun god. The Labyrinth, in its complex paths, represents the human mind. Theseus was in effect symbolically becoming a god by trans-versing the Labyrinth and destroying the symbol of god. He then follows a golden string, gold an ancient symbol of god, to find his way back out of the maze. Alice: "I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!"
Suggest watching the movie "Pan's Labyrinth"

The beheaded goddess figure is most commonly found in ancient Indian art. The most common form is called Chhinnamasta [link] (wikipedia link) "Chhinnamasta (Sanskrit: เคเคฟเคจเฅเคจเคฎเคธเฅเคคเคพ, Chinnamastฤ, "She whose head is severed"), often spelled Chinnamasta and also called Chhinnamastika and Prachanda Chandika, is one of the Mahavidyas, ten Tantric goddesses and a ferocious aspect of Devi, the Hindu Divine Mother. Chhinnamasta can be easily identified by her fearsome iconography. The self-decapitated goddess holds her own severed head in one hand, a scimitar in another." Some pictures include * [link] * [link] * [link] * [link] There are very similar ancient depictions in Mayan and Aztec art as well... though it would take me some time to find an example. I believe Lady Coatlicue or Goddess Lady Coyolxauhqui are depicted in this manner. It is interesting that two religions so far separate have very similar iconography. The interpretations vary for this symbolism greatly from meaning everything from the idea that god(dess) sacrificed him/herself to create the universe to god(dess) is insane and has imagined our existence. You can find similar ideas of a self-sacrificing deity in virtually every religion...and even atheism has the big bang. I suspect... but can not prove, that the beheaded Goddess figure, with enough research, can be found in other regions and religions of the world.

I like the lightened version, but again, that's my taste at work ... *winks* My feeling is that whichever one expresses what you, the artist, feels is the most appropriate is what it should be! *hugs*
