I wonder how the trap ended up on his arm...

The trap grabs what it likes.

Actually, I just noticed, he must have stuck his arm in there, if he accidentally got it like that there would not be a bar in the middle of the trap.

It is supposed to be that he got it there by accident but I really liked the pose here so I had to go with this version xD
So for now I'm going with the thought thatΒ he got the hand into the free space while crawling through the underbrushΒ and accidentally triggered the trap when he wanted to rest on his elbow.

Okay. I can see that happening. I was listening to "how deep is your love" by the beejees and then your profile pops up. I singing to it and I see all this gore and a really warm feeling washes over me. Although that is the weirdest thing any one could say, your art it so soothing....... although it bloody and gory. :}
I'm sooo weird~~~ and I'm proud of it!

Oh shit this actually fits xD *puts the song on*
You are not weird at all, I have the same feels. I don't see my own works as that scary or terrifying but something more like... artistic with all the blood and gore? Hard to say it any way better. "Soothing" is a good word to describe it.
I always try to achieve different moods in my works c:
I'm so happy to hear you like my stuff and especially if it brings emotions. You just made my day ^^
And thank you so much for the watch and favs!
Also can't help but listen to "How deep is your love" by Calvin Harris now xD

By Calvin Harris? I guess by this time some one else would make a mother song with the same name. And no problem, I came on to this sight to relax and you grant me that light wish.

he's a sharpshooter and got caught in an old bear trap when crawling through the underbrush ^^

This will ruin anyone's day. Although it looks like he's on his cell phone and almost nonchalantly calling for help.
"Yeah 911. It happened again. Yes again, just send someone."
LoL

OrangeSavannah In reply to JamsinE85 [2016-10-25 14:06:58 +0000 UTC]
Actually if I remember correctly, the story goes that Doyle calls his friends to pick him up xD
He is a sharpshooter and on a mission when this happens so calling 911 isn't really an option if he doesn't want to get caught.

Sorry. I wasn't aware that this is "Walking Dead". I don't watch the show. I'm that I should.

Walking dead? No no, this isn't xD
Doyle belongs to Rookie141 and she has made up the story.

'Shrugs' I was only making a joke at the beginning of all this.
Above all it is a very good work of art.

The question is: How did they get it caught so high up the arm?

Yup, that sums it up pretty accurately. Though perhaps it would have been more believable if I had drawn the trap sideways... oh well.

Man, I love the perspective you took on this. It looks awesome!
The expression is beautiful...in a painful gritty, "What the hell haveΒ I done?" kinda way.Β I always find that sometimes with super realistic styles, expression and life is lost but you seem to have retained that wonderful.
But poor guy.
How exactly did he get his arm caught in an old beer trap?
π: 0 β©: 2
OrangeSavannah In reply to TripleJaysArt [2016-10-25 14:02:11 +0000 UTC]
Whii, thank you!
I had to fight with the expression for a while, especially with the lats detailing part. It's good that I nailed it then! xD
I agree that it really takes skill to master expressions with the more realistic style of art.

ayoo i'm here to explain the last question hue.
Doyle is a sharpshooter (Sav just kept it simple with the clothes) and this happened when he was crawling through the underbrush because he wasn more concentrated on what was in front of him. cuz who the hell expects a bear trap.

TripleJaysArt In reply to Rookie141 [2016-10-25 21:56:49 +0000 UTC]
Ohhhh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up. The whole time I was just scratching my head wondering how a human being gets his whole arm through a bear trap without noticing.
Esh, must have been an absolutely terrible surprise.

Oh I love this, I love how you captured that extreme discomfort (for lack of a more intense word) when you can't get away from the pain.
The forest floor detritus is just a bonus too (:

That's really interesting. Β Particularly the angle that his head is at, a very small change in the lip ridge up or down would have a large effect.
Thank you for your insight into your painting (: I love hearing what artists have noticed and thought as they've made something.

i really like this one x3c i love the expression, that's so like him huehue.
as i said, the rusty bear trap doesn't make things better. maybe that's the main reason why the arm was beyond repair.

OrangeSavannah In reply to Rookie141 [2016-10-25 15:15:45 +0000 UTC]
Huehue, the expression was pretty fun to do even though I had to struggle with it.
And yeah, seems like a legit reason. A nasty infection can spread pretty far hence the shoulder getting ruined too.
