Personality: Locke is a very quiet, simple man. His job is his life, his reason for being and he sees no reason to rebel against his purpose - at least, not anymore. Perhaps once, as a young guardian, he had dreams of escaping, of falling in love, maybe starting a family. However after his first ward broke his heart and rejected him, he lost most of his fire. He does his job and protects his ward, but refuses to get too close lest he be hurt again. Despite his jaded outlook on life, Locke is very much a romantic at heart. He sees his job as a guardian as being sacred, and the most rewarding thing to him is to know his ward is safe because of him. Though he does get scared when confronted with a higher level demon (which is fairly often, considering his modest nightmare class) he never lets his fear rule him. The one thing he fears the most, however, is the pain of rejection.

History: Unlike most guardians, Locke has had more than one ward. His first ward, the one he was given to at birth, was a shy little boy who was scared of the world. Locke treasured his ward, and protected him fiercely, placing himself as a barrier between his ward and the harsh outside world. Under Locke's constant surveillance and constant approval, the boy grew to be a very self-assured young man. One who wasn't afraid of the world, and the people in it. One who thought he was infallible. One... who thought he no longer had a need for the intrusive presence of a guardian. So after 18 years of selfless care, Locke found himself disowned by his ward. Stunned by the betrayal, Locke retreated within himself, and he has refused to leave his nightmare form ever since. Even after his reassigning, he refuses to let his new ward get too close, nor to let himself get too attached, lest the same thing happen all over again.
