30/01/13 - I tweaked the overall piece a bit, mainly because the rune in the background was visible through Daniel's jacket. (don't ask me how, I dunno) Added some highlights and fixed his face. Nothing that big, except Weyer in the background now beckons. Again, don't ask me why. xD

SYMBOLISM, FTW!!! No, Daniel doesn't have a skeletal arm, okay?

Wow, my first complex digital picture in like... ever?! *great accomplishment, dork* Bah, I'm too tired to ramble about it now - on how much time I spent on it, but now I can finally STUDY PEACEFULLY. *rubs the bridge of the nose* I will edit the description when I relax a bit.

Edit: Well, I'm back and I promised a description. Firstly, the title. As some of you may know name Daniel from biblical means 'God is my Judge'. It appeared to be like a powerful title so I decided to use it. Also, kudos to Frictional in foreshadowing the plot of game with his name!

Oh, Jesus, I used only a few references. Most of them are lightning based ones , so the proportions may be a little off, taking into consideration that the dagger in the picture is titled not at 90 degrees angle. But mostly it was fueled by my imagination and my love for the game; its characters and plot. Can't wait for AMFP (will force myself to play, yeah)

I used a different painting technique for this one too: I used the infamous chalk/texture brush *artastrophe suggested the other day, and it turned out marvelous! Thanks, hun!

Now let me explain the symbolism (mah favorite part): it can be quite obvious to some extent, but most of it is concealed. We were talking over tumblr about who's the main antagonist for the game. Certainly not Alexander - he's just a victim if circumstance. We settled on the Shadow, so here you go. But basically, the piece features those ten horrible days (8-18 of August) as Daniel tortured and killed to save his own life. With every life he took, he killed a piece of himself, hence the skeletal arm and the skull reflection in the dagger. Sharp-eyed people will notice a piece of blue cloth strapped around Daniel's 'arm' - yeah, the girl played a significant role in the plot as well. Also, this time I used real reference for the warding rune in the upper right corner.

Also, don't expect any more complex digital pieces from me. I need some time off from them.

Note that I gave the Shadow an asymmetrical face. Its 'face' is by no means perfect. Also, silly me, I forgot to add Daniel's tie/bow or jacket embroidery.

EDIT-EDIT: So I was scanning more images and SUDDENLY the scanning window covered the 'normal' half of Daniel's face. Omg, I was freaked out. It's good - if the artist freaks out at her own art - that. is. good.

'Tis nothing - I just vividly imagined a maniac with a knife in my house for a few seconds.
