Actually no, it's with a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. I had to crop it quite a lot to reach this result. You can check out the meta data.

This is the original photo with no editing applied to it at all (notice that it's vertical - the spider was standing on the back of my couch!) -

This one is the second version, after fixing up the colors a bit and doing some sharpening sharpening, before cropping and applying the black & white effect -

From the thumbnail, I felt that the subject was a spider, and the moment the page opened to view this piece full sized, I knew I was right. But I literally had goosebumps running down my legs for about 5 minutes from the gimlet stare he was giving you. I don't think he was too happy about you 'invading' his space and taking his picture without his permission.
While spiders don't hold a big fascination for me, especially after having lived with some rather big nasty looking ones in my old house (or as my old roommate and best friend/sister called them - Monster Spiders) despite trying hard to get rid of them, this particular piece I would have to say does look amazing. I just can't really look at it for long, so I'm typing this with the picture scrolled up on my screen so I don't see it and shudder from that gaze.
THOSE EYES!! Those spider eyes are what are giving me the chills just thinking about them as I write this. I can't think of any way to make this a better shot. It's absolutely amazing!

At least it was a little spider. The ones I had were huge and I couldn't stand them, but I was better about dealing with them than my roommate - she would seriously scream the moment she saw a spider.
