Description This was done to thank our printer, Doug at Crocodile Copy & Print, who makes our convention prints beautiful.

(They're located on Bloor St., south side just east of Yonge St., in Toronto. The best prices in town.)

Apparently, copier repair girl is now the unofficial mascot of McHozer Comics for the 2009 con season.

Very nice.
Good focus on details like the tools. Too many people out tehre seem to think anything can be fixed with just a hammer and a wrench...

Besides, I'm kind of a sucker when it comes to girls doing work like this...

Somehow, I knew you would like the tools. And a hottie with the tools doesn't hurt either! Knowing my way around electronics, there's no way I could allow myself to put a hammer nor a wrench into the picture. Thanks, man.

Guess my weirdness shines through eh?
I simply think this a great piece of work, just like taken out of real life where you can meet practically any suprizing event.
Well ok then, so maybe her outfit isn't exactly what I might expect to see on the few girls in our workshop... but like most fantasies, they're fantasies... but we could always hope if you know what I mean

Hmm, I wonder what I might persuade someone into posing around here?

Fantasy indeed.

Good luck finding such a model!

Exatly, that's what I need.... luck...

I have a different idea though, but it's more of a artistic nude portrait, but getting someone to that would be even harder...

I'm sure there are models out there who are interested in padding their portfolio and getting exposure... the trick is finding them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OjisanPhoto In reply to Oshouki [2009-09-04 21:42:58 +0000 UTC]

Exactly my point.
My problem would be to make an attempt at artistic nude look exactly like an artistic nude, not to look like some sleezy guy just looking for cheap porn shots... There have been enough girls around here that have been tricked into that as well...

Well, worst thing that could happen would be a slap in the face right?

artistic nude, slap in face, seems like a fair trade to me...

OjisanPhoto In reply to Oshouki [2009-09-12 10:13:02 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, maybe so... worst thing that could happen is that I get a "no".... and propably a slap... Lets just hope the ones that slap aren't doing any martial arts, boxing or extreme muscle toning...

You continue to impress me!! Awesome work. I love the body language and whole scene setup.

Gorgeous hands. Although, I think her mouth could be a bit larger. If I imagine her mouth relaxed it seems it may not fill the space between her nose and chin adequately.

The fading around the edges, the saturated BG colors vs. her, the detailing of the copier with its circuit ribbon hanging out and all the tools involved, her hair texture (coloring) vs. stocking texture (coloring), loose shoe lace and shoulder strap, her ensemble of clothing...everything, all great!

Thanks, Nicole! Your endorsement and encouragement is always such boost for me.

She actually started out as an undercover cop/csi looking under a sofa at a crime scene. Then it because copier repair because it seemed more apropos as a thank you for our printer guy.

As to the tools and stuff, knowing my way around electronics and hardware certainly helped. I suspect you appreciate those details for the same reasons.

I saw the same thing about her mouth. But when I tried to make it bigger, it just didn't look right. So I stuck with my first instinct/sketch. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll keep your suggestion to visualize the mouth relaxed in mind -- sounds like a good technique.

(btw, is that a new smiley? soooo cute.)

NGoff In reply to Oshouki [2009-09-04 21:19:08 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I definitely appreciate the detail-adding effort, but as you mentioned...it may also be because I'm familiar with many of them.

Sometimes I find when the mouth (and even nose) doesn't seem to work with the face, it can sometimes be because the angle is not the same as the face (1/4, semi-quarter angle etc). However, since that's currently one of my flaws, I can't correctly identify if that's the case with yours.

I don't thinks the smiley's new, but it's new to me....someone used it in a reply to me...I love it! (tighthug)

I often experience the facial feature angle problem, especially when I start to over-analyze a picture. Doing life-drawing really helped with that. I haven't done it in over half a year...maybe it's time to get back into it.

Yes...FFAP, something that can handicap artists and lead them down a road of hardships with unstable recovery....

You and me both!!! Time to hit those anatomy books as well as life drawing....

Bloor St., south side just east of Yonge St. ?? I think I probably haven't been there in a while cause I keep thinking that's where this empty space is (( i think there was construction going on or something )) ~

Heh... Yeah, the condo where Doug is now was a big empty hole for a long time til they finished the condo. The one at the corner of Bloor/Younge has only been an empty hole for about a year now.

Oshouki In reply to McHozers [2009-08-28 02:38:27 +0000 UTC]

You can't have buildings or people occupying good property! Holes are so much better!

Oshouki In reply to Silver-Kissa [2009-08-27 15:01:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

Just east of that empty space is where they are -- literally right next door. They just moved there from across the street a couple of months back. Apparently, the condo developers who bought the property and demolished what was there has gone bankrupt or something. So it'll probably be an empty space for a good long while.

Silver-Kissa In reply to Oshouki [2009-08-27 15:07:09 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome ~

Ah, okay. That's bad what happened to the developers. The empty space is rather unappealing in that area, it's a very busy intersection. Hopefully something plays out.

you're right, it is totally unappealing. Actually I couldn't recognize where I was... then again, that may have to do with living in Mississauga too long.

I've kinda given up on Air Gear, I'm not sure if its the scan quality of the latest chapters on onemanga, but the art really seems to have taken a hit.

Haha, well to be fair, its never had much of a plot to speak of. I used to really dig it just based on how beautiful some of the visuals were, but alas. I'll have to find new eye candy.

Oshouki In reply to Knollilocks [2009-08-28 02:37:27 +0000 UTC]

lol, you're right.

If you're looking for eye candy, I suggest C.A.T. has wonderfully drawn artwork, by a guy based in hong kong, Fung Chin Pang. Vagabond, by Takehiko Inoue is also brilliantly drawn.

Knollilocks In reply to Oshouki [2009-08-30 22:39:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh hey, they're on DA! I didn't realise until I typed the name into google.

I've heard good things about Vagabond. Is the story as good as they art?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Oshouki In reply to Knollilocks [2009-08-31 22:20:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Fung Chin Pang is on dA. Sadly he doesn't draw comics much anymore -- his focus has switched more to digital art it seems. But nevertheless, his work is just so pretty.

Vagabond is based on a novel written about a historical figure. So the story is good in parts, while other parts don't interpret or translate well to manga. There's a whole arc about a rival/contemporary of the main character that makes you want to stop reading, just because it deviates so far from the main character. But Vagabond is one of those books that, for me at least, the art carries the book so much that I'll overlook the story. The way he captures in still images of what would be a blur of swordplay action is mind blowing to me.
