I enjoy this photo, great composition. She has a beautiful face, best of luck to her for getting on the show!! You should take some close up shots of her for her portfolio, I think they look for things like that !

Pose and composition are really good, but a little more brightness and saturation wouldn't hurt.

You said in the deviation description that you converted the picture from a RAW file. I don't see how that could be a problem, since the RAW format has a higher bit depth (usually 12 per channel) than JPG. If anything, RAW gives you more options when it comes to colors.

well i converted in to jpeg through ummm photoshop and in order to save it as a jpeg i had to change the bit channel to 8 bits instead of 16 and im thinking thats what caused it to desaturate when i posted it on DA or DA couldnt recognize the embedded profile but i really dont know how to get the colors to stay the way i edited them in RAW, any suggestions?

If you embedded a color profile, I don't see why the colors should change... Is it possible that you had a "simulate printer colors" option or something similar enabled while editing?

OsmynOree In reply to Argolith [2009-03-13 21:10:47 +0000 UTC]

well like i said before the color profile thats in photoshop might not get recognized by DA and so they will just discard it and all of the colors i saw when editing will be gone ya know but i know i didnt have simulate printer colors on while i was editing, maybe i should check the color space when i edit next time ?

But why should dA not recognize the color profile? Other people use embedded profiles too. Of course you could try using the sRGB color space to be on the safe side. But with an embedded profile this shouldn't really matter.

what are you using to convert from RAW?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OsmynOree In reply to indi-is-conan [2009-03-11 20:48:12 +0000 UTC]

im using photoshop to change the channel from 16 bit to 8 bit in order to save them as jpegs so i can post them but idk what else i can do in order to retain the color i got in photoshop ?

indi-is-conan In reply to OsmynOree [2009-03-11 21:44:23 +0000 UTC]

yeah changing the color space can be a problem, when I use lightroom to look at my RAW files and do the Export there to PS, I will select 8bit color then I don't have to do any conversion in PS. you could try adding a lil saturation somewhere in your process?

OsmynOree In reply to indi-is-conan [2009-03-12 01:07:43 +0000 UTC]

hmmm well i can try doing that tomorrow maybe that will work, but will that enable me to still keep my colors like the vibrance that i get when i edit them in raw??? just wandering if anything ill listen to you and add saturation after i convert it to 8 bit ya know but thank you

indi-is-conan In reply to OsmynOree [2009-03-12 03:40:04 +0000 UTC]

There is a difference in the color palette so no guarantees, but it might do the conversion a little nicer

very nice composition, angle and location, however I think her face has too much shadow.

thanx and i think the shadow on the face is fine BUT her eyes are a little darker
