Pope Saint Pius the Fifth is one of my favourite Saints, in that, according to my somewhat limited knowledge of him, he codified the Latin Mass (very important to the stubborn traditionalists and those of us who admire the beauty of classical liturgy) and made strides to fight the heresy of Anglicanism when it began to spread throughout England. That and he looks like a wizard.

I love this piece of artwork: both for the subject matter and the execution! The shading and build-up of colour on his cape is very nicely done. The inclusion of the Rosary is an appropriate touch as well.

St. Pius V, graciously pray for Paul/Oswulf and for us all.

Once again nice piece. I am also a fan of Pius V - he finally managed to tackle issues that had sorely needed addressing. But before the light is the darkness, and Pius V thankfully was light after a period of darkness. As far as the Trinitine mass, I love it but unfortunately it's not offered everywhere. Benedictus Deus in saecula.

No, the Tridentine Mass is not available everywhere, sadly. In my Diocese they have several "Latin Masses" but none of them are Tridentine. They're nice, and certainly better than your average Novus Ordo Mass. I'm hoping that the Holy Father, with his pastoral provisions, will strongarm some of the looser laced Bishops and make them provide for the Tridentine Mass. Oh, would but could some of the more venerable Popes of happy memory see what has happened to the House they presided over!

The first Mass ever was in the language of Aramaic! Latin become the language because it was widely used in most of the centuries following. I really doubt if the SSPX will ever come to terms with the Church as they persist in not recognizing ecumenism within the Church's teaching. Do you converse in Latin or English? I believe that was the prime reason for the Mass to be in English so that everyone could understand what was being said. In the Latin Mass we were just spectators watching the priest going through motions. In the updated Mass we become participants in the celebration. I know there are people who prefer the Latin rite and that's okay by me. The Church does allow for the Tridentine Mass but I don't think the majority of Catholics would want to always have a Latin Mass.

Pope John Paul II consecrated the world to Our Lady during his pontificate.

Yes the modern movement has drastically torn the church apart....and us traditionalists, as ridiculed as we are, remain staunch in our defense of the sacredness of the faith as we watch the church today fall into terrible turmoil

It's depressing is what it is. This is why I continually hope and pray for the reunification of the SSPX with Rome, we desperately, and I mean desperately, need a return to conservatism. A movement back to conservatism has begun, a penance for the madness that led to so much havoc during the 60s til recently, but there's so much damage, and so many fallen away... If the split between LeFevbre's faithful and the Pope were mended, I think it would allow a much broader scope of healing to occur. But, enough of my ranting, thank you for your comment, and your insight. God bless!

No, rant all you want! Yes I understand so well. Though I'm extremely hesitant to support many things of those outside the Roman Catholic Church, I do clearly see that the movement to return to the sacredness of the Latin Mass and those traditions is so strong now...what irritates me is how few in the Church see it! When Latin Masses are said, the Churches are full to overflowing....but oh no, modern Priests say the 'changes' were needed....can't win. I get so upset and frustrated but I persevere.

And what of Our Lady of Fatima who said that the Mass was NOT to be changed? Her request to have Russia Consecrated to Her still hasn't happened and She was clear there would be terrible consequences for that...are we now starting to see those consequences? I think so...

Now it's me who's ranting lol...sorry

That's perfectly fine. You know the irony though, people think that the desire for Latin Mass is in the minority. Much of the Church's youth wants to see restored Tradition, and most people I know are at least sympathetic. Very few people are openly antagonistic toward the Latin Mass, et cetera. See, I don't support the SSPX, per se, I do read their publications and what not, but they've always kept the Holy Father at arm's length... they've never been *too* far from Rome to reconcile. But, negotiations are reaching a pitch and the formal seperation *might* be coming to an end. I've spoke with a few people about it, it seems just as many know and are fascinated by the Society as those that don't and couldn't care. And I think knowledge is the first step toward recognising and addressing a problem. That, and the Pope seems to have his finger on the pulse of the issue. He's doing many things which I think will benefit the Church as a whole, provided his successors continue in his footsteps.

It's so nice to talk to you about this and to hear your thoughts and views. All I can say is God bless you and thank you so much!

I really do hope that some kind of an agreement can be made with SSPX and the Roman Catholic Church....I want to believe that only good things can come from these discussions and that some important eyes to the traditional movement can be opened.

Likewise. It's good for me to hear that we have faithful in our ranks abroad! It is very encouraging indeed.
