I made the sketch for this drawing about 1,5 year ago
I remember I was looking to some of Victoria's Frances beautiful works, and was so inspired. Then I saw at deviantart a great photo and I knew I would draw this one.
I wanted to let her look unnatural, bit vampirish.
I drew it during listening so much Dark Sanctuary, while I was sitting next to the lake, surrounded by trees on a very silent day. At that time it was about the best sketch I had ever made, I loved it so much to draw it....
though I did never finish it....?
I felt guilty about it xD So after a year I found it again and I remembered how much it had meant for me. I needed to finish it, that's what I knew for sure, however I did not like it that much anymore, found it kinda crappy.
I coloured some parts and then I let it untouched again.
But now, I finally did finish it and I'll submit it to the contest at victoriafrancesclub.deviantart… about Victoria's Frances birthday. Because she was my greatest inspiration at the time I started this drawing and she still is a huge inspiration for my drawings now that this drawing is finished. This drawing kind of symbols the connection with her art during the last years
And with submitting it to the contest I also hope i can encourage other people to submit something traditional.... I mean.... all those photomanipulations can be beautiful sometimes..... but it IS a Victoria Frances Club and if I think about Victoria Frances, I don't think about photomanipulations... :S (no offense to photomanip-people)

yeah...I do know unfortunately... I didn't expect them all to be manips...I mean...not even digital paintings... I can tell they look pretty but I can't see how they fit the theme.
I really hoped your drawing would stand out more though

I love this, Marijke. The colours and the atmosphere are enchanting. You did a great job on the clothing as well. Sounds great drawing next to a lake surrounded by trees.
I do like some of the manipulations but I agree with what you said. When I think of Victoria Frances I think of traditional art. But then again art is art anyway... It's confusing.

aww thank you! pf voor de compositie heb ik gewoon een heel stuk van de tekening afgeknipt eigenlijk haha. maar de kleuren komen gelukkig wel mooi uit door de kleur van het papier

though I've got to say this pendant has got nothing to do with wicca (well in this case at least) If I had wanted to relate it to wicca, I would not have drawn it up-side-down

Awww lovely dear! I admire for you being able to look at old works. Because I can't, but then again..i can't throw them away, but then again I will never touch it again. 
Oh and about the photomanipulations, well I totally agree with you. I love their works too but then again, that contest 'should' be just for traditional artworks.
But hey dear, wish you the best with the contest.

Well I don't think it should only be for traditional artist, but I just don't like the thing that a very big part of the club are photomanips which just hasn't got anything to do with VF. If it's a manip that clearly is inspired by her work, allright. But many manips are 'just' gothy and there are enough other clubs to show such works. but o well I guess you think quite the same about that xD as you said.

Her face is beautiful. Just... beautifl. It has angles, and a kind of smoothness, and her eyes look like ice. I love the way they catch just that bit of light, and their shape.
Although... hmm... I do think that the chest area is a bit two-deminsional. Or maybe it's just because the laces are thin.

Simply beautiful. It really reminds me of Victoria. ^^ I love how you did everything- The hair, the shading and the highlight, and the dressing is just lovely. Great work! ^^
