Okay. I need to quit to be a pansy. So you are my first victim. As I said, I love this work, but I haven't told you why. This look like an etching/lino print I gladly would have on my wall. I love how the 'empty' area look like pencil/charcoal spots that aren't properly erased away. The piece is well balanced, and the pink lines make an interesting effect. Julias are often easy objects to work with, and it's too easy to choose the usual oca's as doodads, Orbit traps and use shadings/3D effects etc, etc but there are so many other options, like use of angle, magnitude or iterationI think more people should try to experiment with the traditional Julias, general tent julia, crystal julia. . The only thing I don't like is the title. This fractal has so many great opportunities for interpretation, and I think the title close it a bit. But the charchoal element is awesome, tho.

That can be arranged. I'm always looking at pieces like that and I wonder how they would work... I could take a part of it with your authorization and try it on myself. Or parts of Synchronicity and Papermancy and do a mix and match and try it on. It looks like an awesome challenge to me. If you're up for it, we can do a collaboration.

But more seriously, this is the kind of stuff that I need to practice on me first before experimenting on other people. The more complicated the design is, the more difficult it becomes when applied to skin so I need careful preparation and a healthy dose of "let's do it" attitude.

I could imagine fractal patterns with a high iteration count and lots and lots of straight lines would be outright hellish to make on skin, though. Something like [link] would be borderline impossible, since it's composed of 100% straight lines. Well, maybe on the back or on the chest of a really slender person but shh....
[link] would make a decent sleeve, though. But damn those swirls and butterfly details would be a pain to make. And would cost one a liver.

Also, try to save this to your harddrive and invert the colours in photoshop! It looks a little like someting you would make if you do that :3
