Description
NARRATED BY: REED RICHARDS(World-1561)
"July 23, 2025, 3 weeks after launching into space. Everyone in the 181st Team has grown accustomed the layout and controls of the Marveld and got to work on our respective tasks. As for me? I am the Marveld's chief engineer, responsible for analyzing the structures as well as the circuitry of all the machines and making sure they are all stable. It's not bad I suppose, but I wish I was assigned as a scientist so I could study the very atoms and nature of the life forms that inhabit the planets we travel to. It's so fascinating really, the vast amount of life that could be found out there in the universe, waiting to be discovered and known by humanity. Perhaps we may find an advanced alien civilization and establish an alliance. Hmm, faster-than-light hover cars and nuon rays..."
"Sorry, I got sidetracked. You must have gotten bored of listening to me talk about science and not all of you even know me. Let's change that shall we? I am Reed Richards and as I mentioned, I'm the engineer of the Marveld. Peter's the scientist here. Ever since I was a child, I have always been interested in learning new things, especially science branches such as biology and engineering though the former is my favorite. I graduated from MIT with high honors and got the attention of MIRA, the organization that hired me to work for them. Over the weeks since my first day there, I got the opportunity to meet and work alongside my fellow crew mates, though not all of them were friendly. I got along with the Susan Storm and Benjamin Grim, or Ben as he likes to be called, but the ones I find difficult to work with are Victor Von Doom, Harvey Elder and Tony Stark. Tony has quite the ego, but I find Victor to be the personification of arrogance. He prefers to work alone and spends all of his time in his room, very well likely working on God knows what. Harvey...is very much introverted so he doesn't really talk to anybody unless he has to."
"For over 2 years, we worked together on various missions on various different planets. In one particular mission, we were on our way to a planet called Xandar, but the trip was called off when we were suddenly exposed to a form of cosmic radiation. It damaged our ship so Ben had to set it to auto-pilot and send us back to Earth, crash landing into somewhere near Costa Rica. On that day, I realized that the radiation did far more than just damage the ship, as each one of us gained peculiar mutations or superpowers as the youngsters like to call them. In my case, I found I can stretch my limbs up to about 200 feet. We were never the same on that day forward. I certainly wasn't. However, before I can continue on the memory lane, the lights went out so I go to the Electrical and I fix the cables, but, much to my horror, I see a dead body."
"The corpse of one Dennis Sykes."
