I nearly choked on my coffee when I saw I had almost 700 messages this morning (that's not including all the ones I cleared out yesterday!). I know the usual reaction to a DD should be excitement, pride, accomplishment... but I only feel slightly exasperated. Out of all my paintings, the one that took the least effort and thought is the one which gets the most recognition. I suspect that most people fav it just because they like dogs. Oh well, maybe I'll get more commissions now

That's usually how it goes for me too. The images I dash out in no time are the ones that get the most attention, and the ones I slave over and really am invested in get passed over.
I hope you DO get more commissions!

If I get more commissions it's most likely I will just sellout and draw sparkle dogs, wolves and the occasional horse.
Oh, and pshhh, don't bother commissioning me! I'll be opening up my trades again some day, we should do some kind of exchange then

I have noticed that many artists, including myself, try to make their edged and lines completely perfect. So when I saw the raw and dynamic edges of the background of your piece, I was blown away! It has such a gorgeous and complete feel without being overly refined!

Perfection could only be a theoretical ideal with traditional media, because mistakes are more difficult to repair. Paint has wonderful texture to offer, I'm glad you like the effect! Thank you for the very thoughtful comment
