Description Bizans devrinin en büyük meydanı olan Forum Theododsiacum veya Tauri Forum’unun bulunduğu yerde, Beyazıt Meydanı’na ismini veren, Fatih Külliyesinden sonra ikinci büyük külliye olan II. Beyazıt Külliyesinin yapımına, kapı kitabesinden öğrenildiğine göre1500 yılında başlanmış, 1505 yılında da tamamlanmıştır. Cami kapısı üzerindeki bu kitabeyi Hattat Şeyh Hamdullah yazmıştır.

Caminin mimarı olarak Mimar Kemaleddin ve Mimar Hayreddin’in isimleri üzerinde durulmuşsa da sonradan bulunan bir belgeye dayanılarak mimarının Yakup Şah bin Sultan Şah olduğu ileri sürülmüştür. Günümüzde kesin bir söz söylenememekle beraber bu üç mimarın da burada çalıştıkları, ancak hangisinin mimarbaşı olduğu kesinlik kazanamamıştır. Rıfkı Melûl Meriç bunlardan Mimar Hayreddin’i burada Su Yolcu olarak çalıştığını ileri sürmüştür.

No it is not a mosque in the same location but very close to each other.

I love the architecture. The arched doors, the molding, the design of the door, the design on the walls and ceilings, the light fixtures and that they are suspended are all amazing and beautiful.
