Description Digital drawing without use of AI
Used Software: ArtRage Vitae
"Automated" digital tools used: none

"Sonnendeck" was a paperwork I did around 2003/2004. The writing in the core had potential, but I messed up with the fill-ins and had a shitty background. So i drew the core again in digital form and added all the other stuff. This time I am happy with the result and the only open question is, if I will add some more patterns to the grey area in the middle of the background...

My fourth digital image really took me a long bunch of time:

two times I had a total blockade (is there any word in "graphic arts" that is corresponding with the known "writer´s block"?)...the first occured when I found out that I need a different approach to the sequencing of wich layers and parts of the image I should work on. The second block was a little hard to cope with....I´ve put some pressure on myself because I absolutely wanted to publish this image on past friday. On this day I had an image that was 90% ready...but I had the strong feeling, that I would not be happy with the outcome, if I terminated that version. It took me some time to realize that it was the background and especially the "3d/deepness-lines"....they were executed quite good and were a good idea that I never did in this style before...but it was just not fitting into the "overall-composition", so I decided to let go on my stupid and stressing completion date, threw about 1/4 of the work away and let myself be guided by "what the image needs" and not by "what I absolutely want to get into it".

I feel like this was a good decision!

After 4 works I start to get used to use those new digital tools and found out about some solutions to problems I had at the beginning. There´s still a lot of open questions that I will have to deal with in the near future, but I am optimistic to get there...

Now I ask myself what will be the next project....perhaps I will digitalize and continue the work on one of my "old pieces"...

If anyone looking at this image and reading this text perhaps uses "ArtRage 6" as software and would be okay to take some time, I would be so happy to be taken by the hand and have the chance of asking some of my actually unanswered questions...
