Wow that's an amazing tattoo! I just recently got a phoenix on my side. It goes from my hip all the way to the end of my boobs...It hurt so bad I'm doing it in sessions so I only have the outline. I can only imagine how painful that must have been for 17hrs of work!

I think this has to be my most favorite tattoo I have ever seen. I love the colors and the placement and everything- do you have a full picture available? who/where did you have it done? i would love to have one with similiar colors (though i would probably make adjustments with the head and the beak). (If you don't want a copy-catter, don't worry, had no intentions of stealing it feather for feather!

this tat is kickass, I'm currently searching for the perfect tattoo. The only problem is I have no idea what i want or where to put it. I've thought about the phoenix because of what it represents and it's meaningful to me, but I just want one thats original and not a copy. I love to draw as well so i've been searching all over for different pics of the bird and I plan on creating one myself.

Who did the art for this?
I want a hip/thigh tattoo like this... but I don't want a phoenix. I want something different... obviously if I've seen it before, it's not very special to me.
Do you know where I can find a great place to look for inspiration for a tattoo like this?

My artists name is Gilbert. He is currently in Escondido, CA. But travels all over for tattoo work.
I actually looked for about a year, at sites like deviant art and even google, for art of phoenixes. I then printed out all the different pictures, and told my artist what parts of what birds I liked. We created the idea for my phoenix and he drew it up. It just takes time, but if you look, inspiration will come.

I always wanted ONE tattoo. I wanted it to be a piece of art, something that would compliment my body shape. I also wanted it somewhere I could cover it up for job reasons.
The phoenix was a symbol I always identified with, and I decided to put it where I did....well, it just kind of came to me, I guess. :-P
