Attention-hungry, Shigeru constantly desires to be around others and to have their affection. He hates being alone, and will
go to great lengths to surround himself with people – calling up acquaintances at ungodly hours of the morning, barging into private parties to which he was not invited, even forcefully inserting himself into the lives of complete strangers. Not all of his attempts to be “social” are welcomed by those around him, but….hey, that’s not his problem, is it? （　´∀｀）☆

That being said, Shigeru becomes very strongly attached to those who show even a hint of reciprocation. Some might say his friendship is exhausting...

History:

Despite what his personality might lead one to believe, Shigeru grew up under fairly unremarkable circumstances. While not unkind, his parents found it difficult to provide the attention and affirmation that their tireless child constantly demanded. To the young and emotionally-needy Shigeru, his parents seemed harsh and cold, concerned with only scolding him for his mistakes. Hurt, he turned to other sources for the affection he so greatly desired, throwing himself into building relationships at school. Home became a place to be avoided, and with the lack of communication and differences that seemed impossible to overcome, the distance between Shigeru and his parents continued to grow.

Nevertheless, Shigeru didn't let keep the rift at home keep him from enjoying his life to the fullest. Even if his parents didn't accept him for who he was, he had plenty of friends who did, right?

“Shigeru—he’s so annoying, isn’t he?”

“Yeah! Always clinging to you, barging in uninvited…doesn’t he have any tact?”

“I know, it’s like, give me some space!”

Sometimes the smallest things you hear can change everything -- especially the things you aren't supposed to hear.

While he continues to be as annoying social as ever, overhearing that conversation changed something inside of Shigeru. A seed was planted: of fear, mistrust.
