I got drawn towards this, as I saw it while browsing and it's representing everything about the book that I had imagined. It's big and mighty, and still very much soft and alive. I love it! I especially love what you have done with the castle. The only thing I feel is a bit off is the logic of the castle. The gate in the front leads out to sharp tops on the mountain - which I feel would be weird? Like, why would they make the entrance face where they can't walk anyway? Other then that I think this is great. With one word - magnificent.

The castle needs FOV depth. Even though the castle has contrast in color to the main focus, it lacks some depth. With a slight blur( not to lose the detai) it would actually make it look larger than it is right now because the height and width would remain the same but to the eye (which can't focus on detail from far) would give it more realism.
I don't have more to say, although DA is telling me its too short. Its a fantastic piece and Im a fan. so to fill the word count. blah blah blah blah blah.

Nice work! Love how Cair Paravel (that is the castle, right?) is portrayed and i think i like the white dress on Susan better than how we see her in the movies, though i think she could do with some armor.

Also, i half expected this to be in homage to Queen Susan of Narnia, the planned sequel for The Last Battle before Lewis died. Even if this is not meant to be that, i still think this would be a great visual to accompany what could have been featured in the story had it been published.

And Aslan's definately like how i always visualize hiim

DarthRevanII:

You posted that you hoped the painting would "be in homage to Queen Susan of Narnia, the planned sequel for The Last Battle before Lewis died."  I have never heard of "Queen Susan of Narnia", nor can I find any information about it on an Internet search. Please tell me more about it, please!  Also, where can I find more about this book: the Special Collections at Wheaton (IL)College? Thanks!

here, from susan's bio after the bit about her being absent in the last battle: C.S.Lewis had planned to write a book called Susan of Narnia, to reveal what became of Susan after 1949. Unfortunately, Lewis died before he could start writing.

and truth be told her sudden ditching of believing in narnia is still highly debated

First.... * Applause * Wow would you look at that! First I'm gonna go into detail on the grass. Look at that beautiful, soft, realistic texture! Only if grass irl was that soft, I bet it wouldn't stick to your clothes when you tried to lay down on it. *_* The Chronicles of Narnia is one of my favorite series. Aslan's mane is fabulous and Susan looks gorgeous. Even the plants and rocks were well done! ( Seriously, how do you draw rocks, I just don't know... ) I loved how this all came together, from the castle to the ground they're standing on, this truly, is an amazing piece of art.

Is there a way I could purchase the right to make an original print (for my daughter)? What is the resolution of the original image?

I stumbled upon a very cropped version of this, and upon seeing the size of the lion knew it had to be Susan and Aslan. Now that I've seen the full piece, it's even better than I thought. The exact setting might not be book accurate, but it *feels* like Narnia, and that's what counts. Very cool and imaginative. Added to my favorites forever!
