Tried for a more finished look... but I was having trouble with the architecture. I think it lost a lot of the charm the thumbnail had.. ;_;how wheird.

If by more finished you mean rougher textures, I probably would have felt the same way, but you've got the feeling and composition down. This is very close to what I'd consider a genuinely good artwork.
