Description Quick sketch that I ended up spending more time with than I meant to. Based off of KT Tunstall's Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. I'm just beginning to hear the song on the radio, but I've listened to it many times before (I REALLY like it). Anywho, I believe the chinese translates something to "Old horse knows the way" and refers to a story where people get lost on a trail and release an old horse to show them the way back home. Pretty much has nothing to do with the rest of the painting, but I wanted to add some chinese that at least mentioned a horse. yup-yup!

Oh I know! I haven't heard it since I got my first horse... six years ago. He's black so I started singing that to him when he ran around an apple tree like a barrel racer as a colt.... it was close enough xD

Eheh, I've only studied Chinese for two and a half years so I'm not entirely fluent but I'm working really hard on it. I understood most of what you said, but could you translate the second sentence for me?

I study Chinese because I'm interested in all languages and I took on Mandarin as a challenge. I study it in school.
Yes, I have been to China. I went for three weeks.

I've been to Beijing, Xi'An, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Wuzhen. I also went to Hong Kong but it's nothing like mainland China there

No, I tried studying once, but failed miserably. I'm much more adept at Japanese though!

I wish I could learn Japanese, but I'm in the middle of studying Chinese, so I want to study Japanese later because I don't want to get characters and kanji mixed up

yeah, I have a couple friends taking both Chinese and Japanese at the same time and sometimes they get confused during class. Knowing chinese characters will definitely give you an edge on kanji, though.

Do you know if they use the same kind of stroke order?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Parcel-Sisters In reply to Kinsara [2009-01-15 04:29:45 +0000 UTC]

I think the stroke order is the same, but don't take my word for it. I guess it's like if people write a spanish "s," they do it the same way as an english "s." >.> But this is just my purely american theory.
