I was going to comment on the immediate impression of the mood here, when I noticed your description. So I'd say that you succeeded there. I quite like it, especially the foreground. I do feel like the background is a bit off, but that's obviously my own opinion. I have trouble identifying what the black there is, especially when you see a slope of snow lined up against it. Well done though!

Yeah, there are some issues with the values that made the background less than ideal. Because my screen had it's brightness lowered due to a program called f.lux which I use... sometimes I forget it's on. As for the "mysterious" contents of the background, I can't really say what it is, my intention was for it to be a huge, thick, vertical rock formation. Thanks!
