Love the emotion in this picture. It reminds irresistibly of 'My Friend Totoro'. I think it's the texture of the rain with the centered pair with very different size, yet clear connection. The umbrella seals the deal.
On the other hand the hints of its own setting and story also carry it. The choice of tones with only a couple of splashes of warm colour make for a feeling of warmth in the midst of the grey rain.
