I've experimented with black light and photography before, but unsuccessfully hehe too bad I don't own a black light or I would try some more

From my experience the best source of UVB are tubes. You can get 36W one for about US$9 (Omnilux, Sylvania, Philips), a housing for $10 and for another $3 and some manual work you can attach a reflector. Avoid high pressure mercury vapour lamps, they are inefficient comparing to their price.I haven't used LED panels, but AFAIK they emit much more visible violet light instead of UVB.

All my pictures (but Klara's) were taken with 6 x 36W tubes and one 250W high pressure mercury vapour lamp. Usually at ISO 400-800, aperture f1/2-4 and shutter speed 1/3-1/30s.
