Paul, sorry for the delay in commeting on this piece...but I'm a HUGE FAN! Love your style. The lighting, the "painted" quality, the composition itself...it all lends to a piece that is just BEGGING to kick someone's ass! LOL! BTW, My Peacekeeper character, Samson, is at the center of the piece. GREAT pick up on the description! Even though you felt you wre pressed for time, it's your ability to pick up on the little details that really impressed me! You're definately on my commission list brother!! Keep up the outstanding work my friend!

Haha awesome. Thanks thanks thanks. Yeah, i really tried to go for accuracy. If i had more time Samson would have resembled Gerrard Butler a lot better. whomp whomp.

LOL! Nah, it was my mistake thinking Butler would be a good model for Samson. I ust do see it any more. YOUR interpretation is AWESOME!

I wish i could have made it look like him a bit more though. Oh well. I'm sure that it looks like somebody on this planet, so i succeeded in that way. Disney tickets please! haha

Heya Paul!
Now that the contest is over I can comment on this one. I got to say, I am a huge fan of this particular style. I love the strokes visible for it. Great medium to choose for it. Great action going on and very dramatic scene. The blue and red electricity coming off of Corea was a brilliant idea.
Captain Corea is spelled that way because thats how the owner spells it. I am pretty sure it has to do with him living in South Korea lol. Play on words I suspect. Anyways, thank you for participating in the contest and congrats on a beautifully crafted piece of art!

Thanks for the compliments. Unlike some of those who've commented on the group page, i'm not bummed that i didn't win the contest. My work has it's flaws and i did it in 2 days. 12 NEW characters in 2 days, i was surprised that i made it into the top 25! And i learned a lot about how i work and what works and what doesn't. I wish i heard about the contest sooner, i think i would've had a better chance. Although, i have no idea what i would have done with those Disney tickets.
As for the Corea thing, i was so confused and i was wondering if i was going to offend anybody by not correcting what looked like a typo to me.
Oh! I was wondering, are you guys just a group of DCU Online fans or are you actually affiliated with DC?

I just realized that your character isn't in there. Whoops, sorry! I kind of had to rush my character choices there. In a 12 character picture, capes can take A LOT of room. I think that's why i didn't put yours in. It couldn't have been the colour, 'cause it would have worked. And thanks for the watch!
I'm noticing a bit of a trend with your names. ThorsAssassin and Juggertha. Why the Marvel-ness for a group of DC people?
I just ask the affiliation with DC because the contest page looked pretty professional, the prize was pretty big and i feel like a lot of fan art going around. Good luck with the book. Self published or are you going printing it through a company?

Hahah no worries and I understand the constraints with this big of a piece. I really like the artistic style for this one. Big fan of digital paint especially when it looks like an oil painting (almost). Definitely welcome for the watch, I can't wait to see what ya come up with next!
The group for now is DC, we are really just a group of people that have been around for a long time doing our character creations and concepts. Like my personal character is based on the mythological Thor and not the Marvel one. It's a character that, for me, has been around for 30 years or so. We do a lot of art and stories based around our characters and we all get a ton of fanart for our characters because we love em so much. My personal collection is somewhere in the range of 900 pieces combining my offline collection and the 640 pieces in my DA gallery. I think I may be addicted to it lol. Most of the pieces in my gallery have been commissioned by another artist with a good portion coming from fanart gifts or these two contests I have ran. So for now we are all playing the DC game and thats the latest thing for us. Developing the characters arcs to go along with the stories surrounding the DC game. If you read my bio for TA, it goes from my personal created story, to a section on him surrounding the game City of Heroes, then a section that goes along with Champions online and I am still working on the section for DC Universe Online. All tied into the overall story for the character.
Thank you very much for the compliment on our group page though! Having been the one to put it together, that means a lot to me! It's the look we were going for. Most of the art you have seen for the contest page and in the group site itself was created by members of the group itself. With the prize, we knew it was going to be tough to have 12 characters in a piece so we all pitched in monetarily to ensure it would be worth it. Having so many really professional artists and writers in the group, the contest was never really about raking in art as we could just create it internally. We wanted to share our creations with a larger crowd is all.
Oh and on the book, it's probably going to end up being self published but I am going to go for broke in having it published through a printing company and distributed.

I guess you're very fortunate to have a game like DCUOnline to come your way. Was it originally a character that you saw in the DCU?
It really looks like you got a lot of attention with your characters and your friends with their characters. Congrats. Yeah, i could tell that it wasn't about raking in art. If it was, the prizes would've been minimal and the contest would have a selfish feel. So, again, the contest was well done!
So, when you say that it's self published, i suppose that it's not going to be in the DCU? Or do you just not care? haha. If that were the case, you might as well just go for broke and use characters from other universes too.
And sorry for the late reply. Been busy.

I hope it does. It's definitely one of the most colourful pieces that i've ever done and i'm pretty happy with how i managed to work with the colours. I would've liked to have heard about the contest earlier though...who knows what kind of contests i don't know about right now
