Description
A flintlock coachman's gun, with a folding stock, based on various early 18th century originals.

I modified the stock from an inert Brown Bess (with a working lock), as follows: the fore-stock and butt were shortened; the channel for barrel was opened up to take the new, wider barrel; the body of the stock was cut just behind the trigger guard, and a hinge and catch were added to allow it to fold and lock; a new butt-plate was made from brass sheet; the trigger guard was narrowed, and the tail removed, to allow it to fit into a slot let into the stock when the gun was folded; a rail was added on the left side; and finally the ramrod was shortened, the woodwork treated with Tru Oil and the whole lot reassembled.
