Following on from the 1st 3 Male Bodyscape drawings

We have the first of my female drawings, the concept is the same , however the references I have selected are more 'feminine' and less muscular than the male models - this presents a different set of challenges, not least 'smooth' skin, without all of those bulging veins and pounding muscles - creating depth and realistic tone over a large expanse of skin can be quite difficult - of course it looks easy, but for me it isn't Thats why I spent probably 20+ hours on the legs, back and arms just trying to get some life and depth into the piece. I have made a quick tutorial on how I achieve the skin tones and textures which I will upload with the next female drawing in a couple of weeks, which I hope will go someway to explaining why it take me so long

I couldn't find the source of the photograph despite searching, although the model is very similar to a model used by Belovodchenko Anton in his brilliant photographs, some of which I recently purchased and will be using as references in forthcoming drawings for the series.

Bodyscape Series - the idea is to produce a number of drawing exploring the human form, I wanted to avoid 2 elements 1. Facial expression and 2. Naughty bits Why? well the 1st point was because I wanted the pose to make the viewer think about the emotional state of the model rather than a facial feature - are they sad, distressed, lonely or happy? The 2nd point was not because I am against full on Nudity, I think when done correctly it is incredibly powerful and thought provoking - I just wanted to avoid the censors and enable my work to be seen by as many people as possible - I also wanted to allow my 1st point to be the main focus and not the size of someones X, Y or Z!! You will also notice that there is no shadow or background on any of the pieces - again this was to make the body the main focus. I have really enjoyed the series and I am sure I will add to it as time goes by - with so many amazing references out there it would be wrong not to
