Description Decided to go FAST, and found a therapeutic way to take out a lot of residual real-life frustration out on this. Spent less time on this (inking AND coloring!) than I did detailing Pauly the Anthro-Dragon in the previous journal entry. Also, this resulted in a heck of a good coloring page for Patrick. Just to get him motivated, and done in a way that would not intimidate him, I took a very simple, direct approach to this finished version. It is intentionally raw.

This certainly won't win any contests, but it's a refreshing change of pace to go with wild abandon, rather than the intricate, protracted patience I generally prefer. Similar, sometimes I get tired of incredibly overblown Tales from Topographic Oceans by Yes, and crank up the simple, in-your-face Creatures of the Night by KISS that was the only true heavy metal album they ever did. (With Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent, the last original greasepaint/costumes album from 1982.)

Anyway . . . as a side note, this (along with the dragoness in the "Trunky" pic) might be a prototype for the red dragons in my forthcoming novel sequence. I haven't decided yet. The basic body form (smaller, longer tail/neck and basically more "dragonlike" than the gold dragon subspecies I've frequently drawn) is on cue. Not sure about the orange on the wings. I abandoned the yellow I used to put on Pauly the Anthro-Dragon's wings (which the full-sized gold dragons do not have!) so I might change that orange, too. For this quick picture it adds some badly needed color. I'm happy I was able to catch certain body contours at once (especially the right arm and the right knee), not too thrilled about others (the foot and clawed hand) This finished version is NOT free to use, sorry. After all, if you put more time and effort into coloring the free ink-only version, you would quite likely come up something better than this. and heck with it, so would I, even though that defeats the main purpose for doing this (to creatively vent a lot of stress in a short amount of time.)
