I like this one better than the first. I think it is because it has three key elements to it that the first photo was either missing or was weak in ::
1.) Light
2.) Movement
3.) Expression
1~ The light is more reflective here, shinyer...gives him the "dont mess with me" look that I think you guys were going for.
2~ Holding the stick ( I feel so ignorant calling it that but not know what his sport is by formality I can't say for sure what else it would be called) gives him the look of liveliness, as if he is about to strike. Which takes the viewer off gaurd.
3~ There are two emotions I catch - the staged (well staged) emotion, which is the toughness; and then the underlying, which appears to me to be almost laughter and goofiness< which you invoke well. This makes him seem more human and attractive while still allowing the photo to keep up the pretense.

again his body stance...he radiates so much energy and power. I would be firghtened...right up until I saw his face. the facial expression was more amusing that scary. :shurg: still a great shot. and I love the black background you have on him...it fits.

I kind of read his expression as though he was mocking whomever was messing with him. It brings a whole other dynamic into the composition that just really works.

That's definitely a different way of looking at his expression... I didn't think of it like that at all but now that you say it I can see it. Like, "haha just try it buddy"....ok maybe not those words exactly, you get the point.
Well see now I'm just plain scared of the man.

This is one the best photographs I have seen on dA lately. Superb work on the pose and lighting seems to be just right with intensity. I think this shall be my first favorite since I left dA...well done.
