COZY READING NOOK (Final Version)

This was an interesting illustrational journey, both with process and techniques, but also with examining how best to serve narrative. I loved seeing all the comments that people here and on Instagram had about the scene they were seeing unfold, but it was also a confirmation in the power of making sure the reader/viewer has a part in the narrative, being given the chance to contribute and bring something to the table. It was also a classic case of getting to the "end", then taking one thing away. (My favorite example of this was Prince completing "When Doves Cry", then mistakenly omitting the bass part in the mixing and finding it made the song even better.)

So, no humans in the scene, but maybe just downstairs making tea, or stepping outside to grab a few more logs for the pot belly stove? The story you make in your head will be far more interesting and satisfying to you, and as an artist, it's good for me to remember to leave room for the viewer in my work. : )
