My cat got spayed this morning and they put an Elizabeth collar on her so she wouldn't eat her stitches. It cracks me up, since she mopes around like a desk lamp all the time.She seemed to make a bit of an impression at the vet's too. Went to pick her up and when the vet heard me ask the receptionist for JoJo, he whipped his head around to stare at me, then yelled into the back room for one of the assistants.
vet: Is the cat ready?
assistant: eh...which one?
vet: What do you MEAN which one? THE cat!
assistant (excitedly): Oh! The calico is going home?! I'll get her ready!
And everyone looked super relieved when we left.

None of my cats growing up needed collars after the sterilizations either. But it seems necessary for JoJo, since the first thing she did after figuring out how to get it off was chew on her stitches.

That's fantastic. I can completely relate because my cat needed one of those after surgery.
