- The trident appears to be made up of random scrap and junk that was found on an abandoned shipyard - lots of rusty and damaged sharp bits that used to be attached to boats, tied up and reinforced by ropes, tape, and strings into a trident-shaped weapon. Not the best craftsmanship ever seen, but it does the job well enough to work. A long piece of rope is attached to the end of it in order to pull back the weapon after it has been thrown. While it can be thrown, its primary use is in close-ranged combat, as well as for fishing, if the need really arises.

With a deep breath, Luca focuses his inner energy and temporarily increases his ability to avoid and react to enemy attacks. The enemies looking at him will notice his appearance slightly shimmer and shift, a bit like a reflection on the surface of water. - temporarily grants Luca a +1 SPD boost, allowing for faster movement and higher evasion
- the skill is rather taxing on his body and once the buff finishes, Luca is unable to move/act for 1 turn
- he is unable to utilize any other ability while Shifting Tides is active

By focusing rukh into his palms and hitting precise points on the body, Luca disrupts the target's inner flow of energy, leaving them in a temporary stunned state. The target will feel somewhat dizzy, almost as if they were suddenly stricken by motion sickness. - the target is left in a stunned state and unable to act for 1 turn
- the skill doesn't deal very heavy damage, as the focus of it is to disable the enemy; the target is simply struck with an open palm a few times and will only experience very brief burning pain on the spots that were hit, similar to touching a very hot iron
- limited to close-range only
- enemies of the same rank or lower than Luca are susceptible to the stun. However, enemies that are any rank higher than him need to make a DEF saving throw (1d20+DEF)
- 1 rank above - on a failed roll (below 15), the stun goes through. On a success (15 or higher), the target is unable to use skills for that turn, but can still move or attack
- 2 or more ranks above - same effects, but the roll threshold is 10 instead (below 10 = fail; 10 or above = success)
- the armor type of the target does affect the success rate of this skill - bare skin and light armor (e.g. cloth, leather and very thin plating) will be affected by the stun, while heavy armor (thick leather and heavy plating) will not be affected. In general, the more layers there are, the lesser the chance the skill will work.

Luca focuses his energy into one end of his trident and drags it across the ground in one direction, like a wide swing, sending out a wave of ignited rukh. Those hit by the wave are knocked off their feet and suffer slight burning damage from the ignited rukh. - the knock down lasts 1 turn (or longer if the target chooses to just,, not get up on their next turn,,,)
- the wave spreads out in a cone (max. 5m in length and 3m wide) before it dissipates
- can affect both enemies and allies, so positioning and battle awareness is necessary

Luca is a very relaxed and chill fellow, often appearing a bit absent-minded and separated from whatever might be going on in a certain moment. However, he's actually rather attentive, especially when it comes to paying attention to other people's needs. He's a great listener, and greatly enjoys talking with people, even if it's a very one-sided conversation where he doesn't get many words in. It doesn't take much to make him open up, and he tends to click with people rather easily, maybe even too easily. While he's more on the extroverted side and always happy to be around people, he still doesn't necessarily stick out in social situations. He's been told that his relaxed demeanor allows him to sink into the background more easily. He doesn't mind it, saying that it's kinda nice to have a back exit you can use to eject yourself from a situation you don't find comfortable or favorable.
Due to his upbringing consisting of a lot of helping around and working around, he's become decent at organizing his obligations, following people's orders and instructions, and finishing things with some efficiency, even if it takes a bit longer at times than necessary. He's a patient guy, ready to take things slow if it results in progress - doesn't matter if it's work or people.
He has a tendency to follow other people's advice a bit too eagerly, often seeming like he doesn't think for himself. He often thinks that people know things better than him, so listening to what they say is the wisest course of action, right? Even if the idea might seem bad, if the person suggesting the idea is considered good in his eyes, he'll follow them. In combat situations however, he sometimes tends to be rather hard to control, preferring to either run away or completely avoid them in general. He's had little to no experience with fighting and generally doesn't know how to deal with aggression, so these kinds of situations are something he likes to avoid. Though he'll have to learn to deal with these things soon, seeing as he's about to throw himself at the kind of work where that might be more common.
He's incredibly curious - if he finds something unfamiliar or unknown to him, he'll be immediately drawn to it. This is especially true for new people, since he really enjoy listening to other people's stories and experiences. He wants to learn as much about the world he's in as possible, and what better way to do this than by learning from other people!
B I O G R A P H Y
tl;dr - seaside country bumpkin decides to go out on an adventure after realizing that his village life wasn't really going anywhere
Luca grew up and spent most of his life in a small coastal town located in the south western area of the continent of Valkaia. The town is a known point of interest for travelers and adventurers, offering many taverns and inns, as well as a small, yet bustling fishing and trading scene, providing any weary adventurer with ample (and affordable!) options to rest and restock before heading out once again. Luca's family is also part of the town's business scene - his father is a fisherman, selling his wares both locally and out of town, while his mother runs a family-owned tavern that has been active for several generations at this point. His older brother often jumped between jobs, but helped their mother for the most part.
His childhood was very idyllic and not very eventful in the grand scale of things. His younger years he spent doing regular kids stuff - playing with the other kids in town, spending time with his parents watching them work, spending time with his brother, and so on. As he grew older, he'd more often help his mother around the tavern, frequently interacting with the visitors. Most of them were adventurers just passing through, whom he'd always ask to tell him about their adventures - he heard many stories of grand quests and monster slaying, famous guilds, and other very exciting things. Eventually, his father was willing to take him out to the sea by boat for his usual fishing trips, gradually teaching him everything he knew. So went on his years, some days in the tavern, some days on the boat, the time in between spent with his friends doing shenanigans, or enjoying life by himself.
He never really thought much about his future, or where he'd be in 5 or 10 years, or anything after that. He always thought he'd stay with his parents, with things continuing as they have always been. However, he started thinking things over once his closest friends started moving away; while his hometown is pretty lively and busy, over the years there had been a rising trend of the younger folks moving away in search of jobs, as the local scene wasn't necessarily the most profitable or exciting. It was common, and understandable, but Luca still felt kinda bummed about it. When Luca was in his late teens, the biggest hit was when his brother moved away - it was a few days after their wedding, his brother and his partner moved out, the two of them wishing for a change of scene and for better work opportunities.
All of this didn't put Luca in a depressive state or anything like that, but it did make him think. The more he thought about it all, the more he started to realize that he was actually getting somewhat bored of all of this. It's the same stuff every day - it's either on the boat or in the tavern, and not much else besides that. Even the chats he had with his mother's customers weren't doing much for his "restlessness". If anything, it only made him want to set out more, to experience the same kind of cool adventures and help the people in need. He'd hear about these weird incidents happening all around the continent - "soul snatching", they called it. He didn't understand it all fully, but he knew that it wasn't good and that, maybe, he could do something about it, along with everyone else. Sure, there was this kind of guilt in him at the idea of leaving his parents alone, since his brother was also gone, but still! Staying here, he thought, wouldn't lead to anything.
He was mulling over this for a few years, trying to figure out what to do with this sudden sense of "wanting to do more". Eventually he got that final push he needed to get moving. One day, a group of adventurers were staying the night over at his family's tavern. They had just finished a quest and needed a day's rest before heading back. Luca had been low-key hovering around their table as he was helping out his mother, listening in on their chatting. Eventually, his curiosity got the better of him and he just approached them, asking what their deal was. They were sent to investigate another one of those "soul snatching" incidents in one of the nearby towns; they didn't elaborate on it too much, but the little bit they told Luca was enough for him to get the gist of it. Something about this specific incident felt... immediately close to him, in a sense. It wasn't a far-off event, something distant to him - it was practically in the neighborhood! It finally hit him that something like that could very easily befall someone close to him, someone he cared about. And he didn't want something like that happening.
He chatted with the party a bit more, trying to find out more about where they came from and how he could... join them. He's not a fighter, and he's barely seen anything of the world, but he felt that he could help people in some way, and the first (and best) step to doing that would be to join one of the guilds! A few days later he finally had the talk with his parents about the whole ordeal, and to his surprise, they were very supportive of it. They said they already had a feeling he'd be leaving them soon, for one reason or another, but didn't want to bring it up until he felt fine talking about it. With their blessing, Luca's mind was made up. He still felt bad about leaving them all by themselves, but he promised to keep in touch with them.
It would take a few more days of preparation before he was finally on his way to Plutonia, the place those adventurers told him to seek out if he ever made up his mind on trying out for a guild. There's no serious reason as to why he chose Phericio - the group he had talked to were all from that guild, and they seemed super nice, so he decided that it's the guild for him.

- his hair is based on seaweed, specifically fucus serratus (also known as toothed wrack or serrated wrack).
- Luca never received any formal magic training while growing up - the way he developed his skills was through occasionally talking with and asking adventurers who stayed at his family's tavern or the folks around town what they knew, and then experimenting with said knowledge to see what can and can't work for him. Many times he managed to figure things out while "meditating", as in staring at the ocean, bored out of his mind while fishing.
- tends to hum or sing whenever working on things, especially while fishing. He claims it makes the time go faster.
- not exactly a fighter, which is the reason why his skills are generally of the evasive or disabling type. It's easier to run away from a fight if the enemy can't follow you, right?
- really likes fishing! His father started teaching him as soon as he let him join his ship on the occasional outings, and is now pretty knowledgeable about many fishing techniques, as well as the general aquatic flora and fauna of his hometown's region. Always carries simple fishing gear with him wherever he goes, since you never know when you might stumble upon a decent fishing spot.
- developed a sort of liking for luck-based games of any kind and the kind of thrill and excitement that comes with them. He says he got it from watching people at the tavern play all kinds of games, mostly card- and dice-based, eventually even taking part in them himself. This lead to him even becoming familiar with various games from other parts of Evacrest, not only the region of his hometown.
