Description
This is basically a remake of this piece I did years ago, but instead of Mr. Mischief, I thought on using Mr. Mean instead.
So back when I got into Mr. Men and redesigned some of the characters, I thought on using Mr. Mischief as like a Schemer-esque to make him slightly different from Miss Naughty (though that was an oversight as I found out looking back in the show that she was like that in the early episodes). After I got back in 2017, I kept that idea for a while, but that changed later on for a few reasons. One of them is that I wanted to make Mischief as a kid as Chickie456 depicted him as a kid, I thought that would work better and thought he would work as Schemer's nephew Schemee. But that left a hole on who should be Schemer? The most obvious thing is to either make a Mr Man version of the character or an OC that is like him, but that would be time consuming and that meant that character would only be limited to that role only, and wanted a character that is universal. So that means to use a character that already exists. The only options were Mr. Tickle and Mean. I thought on Tickle as like with Schemer, Mr. Tickle (at least in the books and classic canon) is a troublemaker who is also very immature. Especially since Tickle has that similar vibe that he's not a villain, but rather someone that delights themselves to causing some sort of ruckus. Plus I wanted to use more uses on the canon characters from the 2008 show. But last year when I talked to ComicaDreams about it before she left, she told me this:
"I never got the whole casting Mr. Tickle as Schemer thing. It doesn't suit him from what I've seen of Schemer, both from last year's poll (where Mischief got most of the votes if I remember correctly), and now. As far as the more "mischevious" Mr. Men and Little Misses go, I feel like Mr. Tickle's the hardest one to pin down into that category, so to speak. His motivations aren't entirely focused on causing trouble to others. Sometimes he does that deliberately, and other times he immediately assumes tickling is the answer for everything. Not to mention there's the whole mess regarding his motivation of tickling people to supposedly make them happy, and how's he's a pretty decent person when his mind isn't on that one track in particular and other stuff. As funny (and rather accurate) as that pic of Mr. Tickle saying "Today I will cause problems on purpose" is, he doesn't tend to get up to schemes for the sake of money, or reputation, or Robbie Rotten-esque shenanigans, or whatever Schemer does on actual episodes of Shining Time Station itself. He's a simple Mr. Man with simple wants. He doesn't worry too much about how people see him or others, and probably wouldn't host a "this is how you become smart and get people to like you" presentation."
So that left me with Mr. Mean, since he's one of the few that cares about money. I'm not sure if making him as a schemer would work, but at least some people liked it.
