Description Yen. About 9 years old. Female ♀
With her image in fake stained glass ... unfortunately, we forgot to switch on the lights in the room behind, so the glass is not illuminated.

Now, 14 years on, the cat is long gone, but the door is still with us. I have recently borrowed a camera, and here's the door, better illuminated! [link] and [link]

This is really great! Love the way the real cat is facing same direction as the fake stained glass. Cute! I like the job you did on the stained glass. I love stained glass, real or fake.

Like I said to NekoLati below, when we saw the photos, we could kick ourselves for forgetting to turn on the lights behind the glass doors to illuminate the fake stained glass. What a waste. Yen is long gone (died in Feb 2006 at about 18 years old - part of her story is told here [link] ) but the door is still with us. Maybe I can take another shot of it, properly illuminated this time!, and post it to dA. Well, not it but them as there are two of these fake stained glass doors, depicting a total of 5 of our cats.

yay! we LOVE stained glass too! But the real thing is just too tedious and too much hard work. So we were really excited to find these fake thingees.
We sorta went a little crazy with them. In addition to these two doors of glass panels, we also did many decals of cat-paw-print in many different colours and stuck them all over the many glass windows and doors so that the cats won't walk into the glass.

Hey, thanks for the faves!

Yes, please, try to take another pic with light behind. I'd LOVE to see the whole scene with all the cats on it. It looks so very pretty from what I can see so far.

And so sorry kitty died. It's so painful to lose a pet.

And you're very welcome for the favs!

Well, we have just borrowed a camera (ours died years ago) and I'm still learning how to use it! And I am slow, so it may be a while yet before there are any photos to upload to dA!!

This kitty we picked up when she was about 3/4 years old. She must have been in a road accident as there was a huge gaping hole in her belly. That was patched up. Then she was hospitalised for liver damage - she almost died; the vet was trying to prepare us for that. With a daily supplement of Vitamin Bs and a liver tonic, she lived on and finally died of kidney failure at 18, naturally, peacefully, and at home. She was one of the lucky ones who could do that. So, in her case, there is no regret.

What a wonderful story. Lucky kitty to have been found by you. And to live to be so old, too. I love stories like that. And looking forward to whenever you do get pictures taken of the door.

Yes, we did! The colours come in a cream-like liquid in plastic bottles with nozzles - and you can even mix the colours to get unlimited number of colours. When you have covered the glass with the colours, you have to let it dry for several hours - then you get fake stained glass! We had a lot of fun going to the art supplies shop, planning the pictures, etc. The two doors with glass panels took us a few weeks to do. Unfortuately, we were so stupid when we took these photos - we forgot to turn on the lights behind the doors!!! So you can't really see the stained glass effect.
