Description Snape and Draco in the hospitalwing…

For Snape it must feel like a déjà vu since Harry's almost-murder of Draco's is an exact parallel to that what the Marauders have done to him years ago. And again - AGAIN! – Dumbledore sees no need to act. He doesn't even speak with Harry about it. AGAIN, he values the intentions more than the actions. Harry didn't want it - that means, he didn't want to kill Malfoy (he did want that fight tough, as it was the reason he went into the bathroom the first time and he did want to hurt Malfoy, but I suppose that’s not the point) and luckily there's no harm done. Let's forget this unpleasant event!

... No harm done?

I love the composition and colour - the neutrals have a lot of contrast but are more mellow and melancholy than plain black and white. It was a good choice to have Snape's hair over his face, as he always seems to do that when he wants to hide or is really uncomfortable.

Kay, I hate to dis Dumbledore, but he is just a manipulative old goat who is trying to get everyone else to do his dirty work. Yes, Harry would have gotten in trouble in any other school for doing what he did, but because he's the "Golden Boy" he got off without even a slap on the wrist. Snape was right about him the whole time. Harry was almost a Slytherin. If he had just accepted Draco's offer, but he just had to stick with the Weasel. And Draco isn't as bad as everyone seems to think, the same for Snape. All the same, it's only after Harry finds out that Snape loved his mom, that Harry stopped hating him.

Did he? Don't remember. I got the feeling that he only liked Snape after he was dead because that meant that he could paint a picture of a Saint that couldn't contradict him anymore. Very lame. I mean what about writing about characters that have to work out their conflicts?

Yea, but He only saw Snape as the guy who hated his Dad. He treated Harry the same as his Father, but really, Snape may of hated Harry, but he loved Harry's Mother, and so, in his own way, he protected Harry for her, 'cause that's what Lily would of wanted. After he found the letter that showed him how much Snape loved his Mom, he realized that he wasn't as bad as everyone thought.

Again, you surprise me with your "out of the box" thinking. I never thought to consider that Snape would relate this with himself- I merely thought that Snape would feel concern for him, but that's all.
This picture is really amazing.

I kinda felt srry for Draco,I mean he can be a D-bag some time, but he cares about his family and I think that that presure of keeping them safe came too at the restroom scene.I also see what Harry did was wong aswell. He should've not tried to fight Draco...idio,but he felt he needed answers, and Snape just; srry 4 him all around -_- He has sooo much stacked up and then that happens, poor guy...

There's a story - Not quite fate by hearts Cadence - which has a 'grey' Snape with a mix of good and bad. He doesn't feature hugely in the story (more about Draco/Ginny and an OC character) but I thought you might enjoy it (of you haven't read it already) although I'm not too sure what sort of fics you like...

Anyway - link here if you want it...

First, the drawing shows an imagined scene and it's not canon.

Your question doesn't bother me, but I hate the ending of HP and don't want to talk about these books anymore. The moral of it makes me sick: Harry attacked the crying Draco because he had huge aggressions against nobody in particular. That would be quite an intriguing issue. But I just cannot understand, why JKR thinks that it was perfectly OK!

Harry attacked a crying boy in a bathroom because he's a fucking asshole. And of course he's the hero of the books and Draco is the villian, according to Rowling. JKR disconnected. She was so so good at the beginning, but she just doesn't know how to write relationships at all, she doesn't give her characters social skills. She says Gryffindor is the ideal house and that they are the saviors when really they are just the assholes of Hogwarts. She makes herself look bad by doing that. Slytherin actually becomes much much better in the books even though she demonizes them. Just make sure that you know that the fan community that has grown around Harry Potter is five million times better than the books. JKR may be awesome at writing epicness, but she fails at where the books count most, the relationships and the people.

This picture is awesome btw, my two favorite characters sitting in the same room looking sad, who could ask for more?

the thought that even after knowing harry did it and everything was almost fine as soon as snape helped draco was just awful. why did noone else hear the fight? and why wouldn't you have just left the boy alone? harry is too damn nosey and gets into things he shouldn't i think i more interesting ending [that might have crushed fans everywhere] would be for him to be taken over by the 'dark side' and let the evil rain down on him! have something horrid hapen to the nosey boy everyone should feel bad for for living in a broom closet...

[and the dead parents thing this gives him no reason to be and ass he should be more shy and maybe even a bit more clingy]

and i agree with you, my 2 favs...but i also adore serious black : ]

Emotional, well-drawn and fantastic!

I really don't know what I should think of Snape in this situation; it seems like he hates every student and every one at Hogwarts, but he also cares about Draco, so he must have a heart somewhere. Though, you may wonder if he reacted the way he did because of this déjà vu thing, or because of the fact that he really cares about Draco. Tricky tricky.

Anyway, I like Snape's pose; you never see him broken, and he has always this very "strict" pose, but you have managed to draw him with his shields down. A emotional Snape in despair, that isn't the easiest thing to do, well done! Oh, and another thing I like (and love) is the way you have made Snape's robe. Lovely

It's merely a dry spell when it comes down to Snape... I'm not worried about it, because Snape has bored me as well, short before HBP. He bores me in fandom, because I feel forced to decide if he's good or evil. But I hate both option, since I see him as a character much too complex to be merley good or evil!

Anyways, 9 days left and I'm positive, that he's going to be amongst my top fav characters again

Great piece. I especially like the light through the window and the blood mixed with the water or potion in the bowl.
You also make a good point. In any other school, Harry would have been in sirious trouble for that. In Hogwarts, only Snape seems to care that he nearly murdered another student. Hmm...

Ture!

HBP is the book in which I've stopped to see Dumbledore as a "good" person. He certainly has good intentions, but sometimes he's just utterly delusional -- and causes with his behaviour enormous damage. Dumbledore was raving about Harry having never used Dark Magic... shortly after this, harry almost kills another student with a very dark curse! Dumbledore didn't talk with Harry about it, he didn't talk with Harry about anything for 2 or 3 months! You don't see it in the lines, but you can feel it between them, that Dumbledor's beautiful little illusion has fallen appart und that he had to face the truth: Harry's not like him, he doesn't despise the Dark Arts. He decides again and again to not become like Voldemort. But he cannot escape of himself and often he's simply circeling around the Dark Arts like a moth around a flame -- already in PS he has made up excuses to go into the Restricted Section, because the books about very Dark Magic attracted him...

"Everyone else thinks he knows everything, and after a while, he starts to as well."

Yes, exactly.

In HBP, I realized especially on thing: Voldemort and all Death Eaters are Dumbledores students! They're his failures. (<-- something in that direction could be Dumbledore's greatest fear, but I cannot put it into a form for a boggart. I also believe, that Dumbledore's enormous pain caused through the potion had to do something with it. It could have been a potion who makes you face the truth or something like that. Slytherins are linked to "truth", that's what makes them that awful. They always tell you the truth, while Gryffindor lies to not hurt people.) Sure, all these people have also made decision, but it seems that Dumbledore could have prevented a lot of pain... if he just had started to act instead of just talking and talking and talking and talking...

Riku-Rocks In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-06-24 07:05:02 +0000 UTC]

Those are some very good points. I especially like your theory on how the Slytherin's are linked to truth... very intriging.
I also think that Dumbledore should have cut the leashes he held on some of the Order members (and I don't mean Sirius), or at least given them some more slack.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Riku-Rocks In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-07-01 22:32:09 +0000 UTC]

I think he needed to give some more slack to a few characters, like Snape, Sirius, and Remus, although I don't think he actually needed to cut any completely.
[Mild Spoiler Warning for OotP] Had Sirius and Remus been able to explain a little more to Harry in OotP (as I got the impression they wanted to, but Remus respected Dumbledore's orders and Sirius respected Remus' wishes), then Harry would not have madde the mistakes that he did. Then the entire storyline with Sirius, Remus, Snape, and Draco would have been different afterwards.

I'm not sure... it was Sirius who wanted to give answers, but Molly stopped him referening to Dumbledored. I've re-read the scene recently and just hated that women. She attacks Sirius with comments like that he wasn't a good goodfather since he had been in Azkaban :anger:

As I recall, Mrs. Weasley tried to stop Sirius, but he didn't actually stop unitl Remus agreed with her.
I know, I found her very irritating in that scene. I recently wrote an argument between Mrs. Weasley and Remus in a fanfiction I'm working on (on FF.net), and I was surprised how many people thought it was strange for her to argue or say cruel things to him. I thought it was rathe rin character for her because of that scene.
