Description Or Snowy if you like. A while ago I had to take a mental break, found an old beloved cartoon series on YouTube and doodled out some fanart. It did the trick. I'm going to be getting a three-in-one set of the Tintin comics by mail before long huzzah. Anyways...our brave boy reporter, his faithful little dog and a badly drawn sinister shadow in the background

Amazing <3

But I have to admit, snowy looks sort of like a polar bear.

Awesome. You've definitely left your own imprint on the series.

Though it wasn't immediately clear to me that Tintin and Snowy are in a cave. At first I thought that they were standing in front of a vine-draped stone disc.

I love Tintin so much but for some reason I just don't cotton to Snowy and that's wierd because I consider myself a 'dog person' and a canine sidekick usually gets my vote (vis; Dogmatix, Inspector Rex). Anyway, be that as it may it is a very good interpretation and I like that you haven't slavishly copied Herge but pictured him the way you draw.

So I want to color this, and was wondering if you had a good res file for it that you could send me?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

persimmon In reply to BrattyBen [2006-11-05 15:36:38 +0000 UTC]

hm I might have to rescan it, the original file is fairly small, how high a res would you need?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BrattyBen In reply to persimmon [2006-11-05 17:51:58 +0000 UTC]

just 300dpi. that should do it. I tried to save the one from your gallery, but, it comes out way pixelated in PS. Thanks.

Heh are you kidding? Of course you can! It'd be an honor and it'll probably look way better than the watercolors I was going to muck about with. I'll be sure to fave it. Thank you!

Oh gosh thank you ^_^ I sure do appreciate that. Thank you also for putting me on your friends list!

The series is one drawn by an Belgian artist and its been around since like 1929. It's a very fun comic, good old fashioned action/adventure detective story sort of stuff. I recommend it highly. Granted since it is an old series there's some stuff that's a bit dated but the charm remains timeless

Its TinTin! *fangirl squeal* Oh man... I love those stories! I read as many as I could get my hands on when I was a kid. Of course it was the english translation but still... Very nicely done!

*fangirl squeals as well* He completely needs his own fanclub on here. I've never read any of the comics I'm really excited to be getting them. The cartoons were awesome but I bet the books are so much better

Yuriona In reply to persimmon [2006-10-13 00:55:47 +0000 UTC]

I used to watch the cartoons too and loved them both! I'll have to find a set of them for my kids when they're a little older I think!

My mother used to read the original cartoons in French and tells me that's the best way to read them.

persimmon In reply to Yuriona [2006-10-15 14:01:08 +0000 UTC]

I heard there were a lot of puns and such that made a lot more sense in French but alas I cannot read french to save my life. Yeah with all the scary stuff kids are reading nowadays I think they need a little reminder that nice guys don't always finish last (and can pack quite a wallop as well )

Yuriona In reply to persimmon [2006-10-15 18:16:23 +0000 UTC]

That's for sure. I had to read the play 'Waiting for Godot' in English in highschool and thought it sucked but my mom said the French version was much better. Then she took me to see it performed live in English and I laughed my ass off! I can understand a bit of French but that's it.
I agree with that. Tintin is the best!

That is amazing! I've seen work that isn't half as good as this and it gets about 10 comments. I don't find that very fair. So... yes, it's very good.

Ahhh thank you friend but I'm learning it's the quality of the comments not the quantity ^_^ so it's all good
