It's just lot's of practice, and learning from each image after its completed what works and what in future could be improved on, your Gerald Butler portrait is very good by the way

about a year and a half, still loads to learn, but its well rewarding learning a new media

this is cool man
nice work. i like the colour plate you've used
the only thing ied change, is perhaps some more dark areas and shading. just to really contrast the light parts, this would give more depth to the image

Thank you Maw, I agree with you thoughts. One thing I was dissapointed with was when I converted the original file into a jpeg some of the shading details and tonal work on the temple itself was lost, still, its a learning curve!

Yeah
maybe save it as a BMP format or a Photoshop RAW file
this preserve the colours better i think
