It was indeed a touching moment.
I fully credit the idea that Midna (along with the majority of female Zelda characters in the games!) was at least half in love with Link; Zant actually alludes to this in the scene in Lanayru's spring. And that Link, being the "pure" hero, never feels the same. This amuses me greatly, because I am mean.

I dunno... in my mind Zelink makes sense but at the same time... I'm just expecting Nintendo to jump out and be all "SURPRISE... THEY'RE SIBLINGS" at us. (Even though I know it's not possible from all the games)
I think Malon/Link and Midna/Link have been the only two ships from these games that I like. (Though Ilia/Link was cute, even if, again, it felt more like a brother/sister thing)

It isn't impossible that Link and Zelda, of any time period, are at least distantly related. According to ALttP, the Hero is of the bloodline of the Knights of Hyrule, and you gotta figure there was probably intermarriage with the Royal Family there at SOME point.
I mostly agree on the pairings, except for my personal dislike of Malon (she grew up from cute plucky girl to stereotypical helpless female). Plus Ilia had basically no character development, so she's just....bland.

Exactly, which is why I loved Midna. She was graciously unhelpful at times. XD
For example, I was stuck on my way through all that snow, so I hit the Midna button to see what she said.... and she gave me attitude about asking her things. XD
