Overall
Vision
Originality
Technique
Impact
First of all, I love the scale of this skyline design; It's very fitting that we cannot see above nor the base of the buildings, particularly in a Cyberpunk setting, and the shadowy figure in the foreground helps to hammer home just how massive and daunting this cityscape truly is. It was a very smart move adding that in, as that sense of scale would be somewhat diminished without it. The two-point perspective is carried throughout the piece exceptionally well, giving every building the appropriate level of depth, many of which have a very nice aesthetic to them.
The one thing I think this image lacks (minutely) is in originality in the building designs. I see a lot of influence taken from existing Intellectual Properties such as Batman Beyond, Blade Runner, and the 5th Element, with a few buildings looking like they were taken almost straight from those properties (the one that stood out in this sense was the lava-lamp-shaped one just to the right of the center). Granted, this is a very minor quibble on my part and I'm just explaining the reasoning behind the score I gave in that segment. I love all those IPs and love seeing their influence reaching other artists.
Barring that, the technique used in this piece is very good, with nice crisp lines throughout that look like they were drawn very deliberately. Once again, I have to comment on the immense scale you were able to render with this: it is truly remarkable how much of an impact one small element (the figure in the foreground) can enhance an overall aesthetic of a piece.
With all that said, I absolutely love this design and look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us.

Thank you for doing an in-depth critique!
I very much agree with what you said especially with the originality bit as that is the bit I feel is the hardest part to do properly. My process for generating a building is just randomly generating 3D polygons and plastering windows and steel frames all over them. I just have to generate shapes that are more original as well as getting new ideas for window features.
For the figure, I actually put it there at the last minute as you can see how I drew it over the top of the buildings lol (not my proudest part of the piece tbh) I could have put far more detail in it but I had to sleep at the time of drawing this lol.
The thing I feel that I need to work on is technique as it is very hard to draw to an off page vanishing point especially free hand. If you look closely, you can see the warping of the lines as it is not straight.
I might plan on taking this piece and color/paint it like my character pieces. Idk I'm currently working on something else.
Thanks for the critique!
(also congrats on being my first critic on DA!)

No problem!
I actually like how open-ended your design technique is. Sounds like there's a veritable ton of possibilities with it!
Keep up the great work!

holy mother of detailing.
wish i spent more time practicing backgrounds lol, now i kinda shy away from more complex ones.
teach me your ways lol.
i can draw perspective all the way of to 5 point with boxes though i just cant detail them for some odd reason lol

Alright, essay practise incoming.
The first thing you should learn is how perspective works such as what the horizon line and vanishing points are. There are a few good books and tutorials on this topic and it is all over the internet. My thought processes from drawing these cityscapes are just blocking in boxes and some modified ones too (like bevelled ones and such) then I add features that are typical of buildings such as windows and pillars. There are a lot of types of these things so I researched into some modern building features or sci-fi artworks in incorporated these into my drawings. I could go into much more detailed if I had time but these are the main points that I want to get across.
Anyways I might provide some more advice, hell sending a note or too if you want.
In the meantime happy arting!
