'Mum' I heard her say
The last words of that day.
Last words of that year.
Last words of that war.
The finale was drawing near…
It was a cry of terror
A desperate scream of fear
She wanted her ma
To hold her close
Anything soothing-
A hug or a
Kiss on the nose.
But alas- the fear did
Not last. The light
Was already blinding their
Sight.
It was drawing their fate
No longer did they have to wait.
The war is over! A brighter day!
These voices only come
When the bomb is out to play.
Brought back to the present-
My thoughts did catch
The very skin ripping
From this poor girl's flesh.
Now you'd hear her cries
With tears or with her own eyes?
The blinding light finally disappeared
Whats left are bodies;
And blood that is smeared-
Over the ground the scarlet colour lays
Mixed with the fire,
A new spark ablaze.
