Wow, wonderful shot. I love all the darkness, especially near the top, right before we see the windows. As I'm sure many others have said, the way the light is hitting him is just perfect. And I also like the way he's looking up with that expression and his hands crossed, as if he had just been praying and God's already answered him. I can almost hear the harp music playing in this. 
The spacing in this is nice, like the way you got the windows in the back into the picture so nicely without cutting off the top or sides.

even though i'm not religious at all, this picture really shows how much a person can pour and feel about what they believe in. i like how this is in black and white, leaving it feeling simple, and just enough to observe everything else in this church. i love how so much is visible in the actual walls and the lines that cross...

Well the lighting definetly makes this shot very evocative. The way that single beam is highlighting the man so perfectly.. And even in the shadows there is detail for the eye to see.

Good photo, but I think it would be more expressive if you zoomed out quite a bit (or backed up) and took the photo of the guy sitting facing to the front or to the right where most of his body would be cast in shadow with his head bowed in either sadness or prayer where his face would be unseen. The zooming out and the change of pose would make for a more solitary and sincere photograph.
