Description

Even though Nintendo tries to forget you ever existed and continually undermines its legacy and fans, I won’t.

Happy Birthday Metroid, cheers to being the greatest game series ever made(until 2010 that is).Β

Not very poorly, but certainly not as well as their Zelda and Mario games. But given the fact that international markets are more important than ever, their ignoring of Metroid fans is a terrible terrible business decision.Β

I dunno, all of their decisions in the past 5-6 years regarding Metroid seem like they're trying to get rid of it, so they don't have to worry about it anymore.

Very. And when fans try to compensate for this lack of games by making their own fan games, Nintendo, even if they're within their right to do so, shut them down.Β

This is all so ironic because the Metroid series, until Other M, was arguably Nintendo's most respected series.Β

Maybe someday, but at least the fans do something great for Metroid thanks to the developers of Another Metroid II remake, good fan art, i like how she looks with that hair.Β

Also it exist a game called Axiom Verge, is kinda inspired by Metroid, but it has his original stuff, is great and multiplataform, indie devs are so good.Β

You are welcome.Β

You can find mirrors on Nicoblog . orgΒ

It's a shame but the indie devs that worked in the game has receibe a DMCA so no more updates to this game, but at least it's already finished, i get the 100 % and is very good, one of my favorite games to be honest.Β

Phobos-Romulus In reply to Newjeo [2016-09-05 20:35:36 +0000 UTC]

Wait, Axiom Verge received a DMCA? Or are you talking about AM2R?

But yeah, once AM2R hit the net, it was impossible to get rid of. The forums still have it for download, as well as update patches and whatnot.Β

I'm still playing Zero Mission i got the gravity Suit, i can say that Zero Mission has better bosses, but AM2R is a lot more free to explore, and i think that I enjoyed more that whem i was playing.Β

Newjeo In reply to Phobos-Romulus [2016-09-07 02:23:23 +0000 UTC]

I finished Metroid Zero Mission, if not a bad game, in fact it has really good music and they made a wonderful work with the three main bosses and the area of Tourian, but there's something that does not convince me(or the lack of something), so yeah, i enjoyed a lot more AM2R and even the first Metroid.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to Newjeo [2016-09-07 06:56:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I feel the same. The first Metroid is such an imposing adventure, full of mystery, not knowing where to go, going to places horribly underprepared...etc. Zero Mission is a little too hand holding I guess.Β

Newjeo In reply to Phobos-Romulus [2016-09-10 23:57:09 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late answer, nice talk by the way.
I agree with Zero Mission, not bat but it has some unnecessary things, also i'm playing Metroid Fusion, at the beggining i dind't like some stuff, but after get used to it, is a lot better than Zero Mission. Very challenging too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to Newjeo [2016-09-13 04:17:40 +0000 UTC]

For sure.Β

Yeah, Fusion takes some getting used to, but I think the linearity works a lot better in Fusion. Oh yes, very difficult at times!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Newjeo In reply to Phobos-Romulus [2016-09-14 04:35:35 +0000 UTC]

I finished fusion, in the end I didn't like the fact the the game blocks you the way a lot of times, but despite that, it's really a good game, and the story that tholds it's work very well, quite touching.

It's curious i finished all the other 2D Metroid and still can't finish Super Metroid, the wall jump is really hard.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to Newjeo [2016-09-14 17:21:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, same feeling here, but at least the restriction makes more sense in the story for this game, and there are parts where you deviate from these restrictions.Β

Super is my favorite for sure, probably beaten it 10 or 15 times by now, haha. Took me a while to get used to that wall jump! I find it easier to wall jump up one wall than to wall jump between two.Β

Sure, and even I want to play again someday, luckly it has some more cool stuff.

I start my game in Super Metroid like three time and I still can dominate very well, maybe someday, but the first time that i've played it amazed me for sure, wow, nice talk, i think i'm going to look for more of your art.

Ah, but it's not as bad as it could be! She got a surprise party from the fans with AM2R, which is going to be kept inΒ circulation in the background now that it's gotten out into the public. JustΒ gotta beΒ optimistic, hang in there, best hero ever!

Can't say I'm too optimistic at this point as far as Nintendo is concerned, but if fans can come with games as good as AM2R, Metroid will never die.Β

I don't think that's likely to happen, they've had more than enough time and it's gotten quite a bit of reaction and attention. In fact he has had game developers who I think worked on the prime 2 maybe ( i don't remember where) come and say that they liked what drm64 did & wish they were given the chance to make it.Β

Eh, you never know. Nintendo has taken the project down once before, hence the title of the blog, "Another Metroid 2 Remake'. And you can find examples of Nintendo's meddling all over the place. For example, a UK company called Bitmap Books has made a few art books on home computers and old game consoles, including one about Super Famicom cover art. Nintendo didn't do anything about it. Then Bitmap Books released a book on the original NES, and Nintendo halted production of the entire kickstarter. Case in point, they're unpredictable and do this sort of crap often.Β

Yeah, I have no doubt crew Members of Retro were into it, but they're not Nintendo of Japan.Β

All this needs is a movie... that's all. And the Metroid games will sell well again.

Besides Other M, the Metroid series, despite being one of Nintendo's more niche properties, has sold quite well actually. Nintendo just seems to be dropping the ball in a lot of major areas recently.Β

I hear the reason Metroid & other first person shooters don't do well in Japan, is because Japanese people's eyes aren't used to it...Yeah, I don't think that's true either, but it's just a silly thing I heard online. It's a shame Nintendo isn't making a big thing about Samus's 30th though. Heck, I feel to draw something for her, & I never even played her games!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to GHENGIZZ [2016-08-08 18:34:51 +0000 UTC]

Eh, I don't really believe that. It's just that FPS games culturally are such an inherently western thing.Β

If you really analyze Nintendo and their decision making with Metroid th past decade or so, Nintendo of Japan is actually very bitter about the success of the Prime games, since they're the best selling entries in the series but weren't developed by Nintendo themselves, but rather an American studio(Retro Studios). Other M was made as a stupid rushed attempt to undermine the Prime games, totally screwing up Samus' character in the process. And now, with the newest embarrassment that is Federation Force, Nintendo is calling it "Metroid Prime: Federation Force", hoping that the games inevitable failure will be blamed on Prime.Β

A real shame for sure! Sweet, yeah, I highly suggest playing them! Super's my favorite!
