I totally agree with approach to this photograph, particularly with the mythological imagery you used to describe its elements. To me, it also evokes the labyrinth in Crete, where King Minos locked up the minotaur. Though the descent seems to take you to a horrible end, the light coming from above strangely compels the viewer to keep on walking to meet his fate.
