One Love-"A Legacy Shared"

My Theme: ONE LOVE: A Legacy Shared
By: Stephen Michael Arnold

I chose this theme because of the Legacy that has been started in the dog’s namesake. It is a name that will probably be carried on to future generations of adorable canines. A legacy that is shared to millions of dedicated fans of chicken and canines alike. A legacy seen as one enters the front door of any Canes as one is greeted by pictures of Cane’s furry face at the counter. After all, who can resist food AND a lovable, furry friend?

-----------------------------------------------------

This was done for an art contest at work (Raising Canes) They are sending off our entries to be judged in Baton Rouge. $250 prize. I am VERY pleased with how this one turned out. The theme and imagery was left for us to decide. The contest was held for all the stores within our district. Not to mention, the winners would be printed on our summer picnic t-shirts so that would be some nice free exposure.

If anyone has been inside any of their restaurant you will see many icons mounted on their walls. They seem big on pop culture and they tend to have funny things posted on their walls in reference to movies, etc. Well, I decided to go that route with this piece. A short history of Cane's is that the founder Todd graves named the store after his beloved dog, Cane. The first one has long since died and his newest family member was named Canes II. I decided to do a piece revolving around their pets and the movie Lion King, for those of you who haven't figured out the iconic pose and imagery above.

UPDATE:
The design that I THOUGHT was the winner actually WASN'T It was just a generic T-shirt form used from times past. the actual winner only did like 3 flowers kind of cornered with the words ONE LOVE or RAISING CANES. Now I feel MORE insulted.

This is why I usually don't enter these contests.

The winner did something similar to this...

P.S. And no I am not being petty, arrogant or cocky about my piece. I don't mind losing when I KNOW someone has a better piece. This wasn't even close. And even if you take my piece out of the equation there were still better pieces in the running than the winner.
