Description
With the success of its summer offensive, the Red Army penetrated deep into Belarus in the midsummer of the war year 1944. The Germans expected an attack further south and soon had to abandon Minsk. When they abandoned the city, they also left behind the so-called Prypiat Swamps. For days, the Red Army had to doggedly cross the swamps, keeping up with the speed of their tank spearheads.
