its based on the story of icarus i thinkΒ
icarus made wings of wax (i think) and flew to close to the sun this melted his wings causing him to crash into the sea and die. im not 100% sure since its been ages since i heard the story.Β

after being captured, Icarus's father made wax wings, but yeah he flew too close to the sun and his wings melted

it is based upon the story of icarus and his father daedalus. they were stuck in the labyrinth together working for king minos until daedalus built wings held together by wax. they flew out of the window to escape, and daedalus warned his son not to get too close to the sea because it would dampen the wings, and to not get too close to the sun because the wax would melt. icarus didn't listen, he was too overcome with joy, and flew higher and higher until the sun melted the wax on the wings and icarus fell to his death. the boy is icarus, and the girl is the sun. the closer they get, the more he melts.
